Hypo or Sunglow?

My boyfriend was sweet enough to buy me a new snake from a gal getting ready to move out of town. The lady said the snake was a hypomelanistic motley, but her eyes are red. Take a look at my pics and tell me what you think...

Well looks to me like hypo but possibly a sunglow herd to tell either a glare or maybe she looks like shes gonna shed or I have a bad computer monitor setting. Here are some comparison pics to hypos motleys of mine both female. Pic 1 is Bermuda Pic 2 Is Aruba. You can compare and see if they look similar. Remember that no two snakes will be EXACTLY the same. Anyhow Congrats on the pretty snake!

I'd say it's an Amelanistic Motley.

@Bug you should turn the colors of your cam a littel down - the red makes me blind. :santa:

I'd have said a sunglow.

As far as I'm aware, a sunglow is simply an amel with no white visible on the upper half of it's body ... which is a description thats seems to fit your snake.

From what I can see the pupils are red so it's a sunglow. If it had a light tan iris with a dark pupil on a snake that colour I would say it's a spectacular looking hypo but I say it's a sunglow.

Actully thats her color shes very bright for a hypo, and is suppose to produce super bright babies. I picked them up from Simon, who told me that they were possibly a new type of Hypo? I have no knowledge of that just Ill see what happens in the spring. As long as she doesnt retain and throw normals, I should have hypo babies. The camera could be bright though, Im bad at pics lol, still learning how to use it!

I have a hypo female and she has the classic black pupils. The new one has red.

My baby ghost escaped. WAHHHHHH! How do you find a 17 inch snake?

The thing is, I'm not doubting your snake is a hypo, I was commenting on Merrills photo from the first post in theis thread which is to me with no doubt a sunglow.

Merrill, Don't be upset that your snake is a sunglow, she's gorgeous. My sunglow motley is one of my most stunning snakes and she won't get a 'dirty wash' as she ages like snakes with melanin often do.

LOL No I was not doubting my snake as a hypo. I know mine isnt a sunglow! I was just posting mine for her to compare hers to, just trying to help some. I was commenting on

Where simply it may be brighter on others screen but isnt on mine, true to color on mine. Didnt mean to confuse anyone.

The pupils are red it's not a Hypo~ it's an Amel. Looks like Sunglow~ Is the belly clear? Any checkering? I can't see any in the bit of belly we can see~ but there could be checks further down than I can see.

We have a little Amel with red eyes...his white from about 2" from his head back has completely disappeared but still has little white around his saddles...has very faint pink checkering to his belly...would he be a sunglow?

a sunglow is an amel who's been linebred so that the dorsal patter shows preferably no white whatsoever. If he has white around the blotches, then it's just an amel. They were questioning the belly, b/c the original is believed to be a motley as well, which have clean bellies. these 2 genes are independent from each other.

from your description, it sounds like an amel to me.

Strictly speaking, no.

A sunglow is bred to have zero white on the upper half of it's body.
