....stores.
There is a reptile store in my town that sells only captive born animals. You would think this is a good thing. But it's not.
You walk in the door and the stench of ammonia burns out your nose hairs. Its from the feeder rabbits rats and mice that are covered in thier own filth. The store actually has to leave the front doors open to air the place out. I honestly don't know how the employees work in there without having a huge headache at the end of the day.
As far as the employees go, they're nice enough. Very friendly and informative. Yet, many of their animals have mites and don't look so hot. :shrugs:
And then there is the fact that they allow a 3 or 4 foot alligator walk around the store unattended. I was crouched down looking at a tank on the floor and the thing came walking up to me. Not a nice surprise.
Another time I was in the store, the employees were feeding live rats to the alligator because some customers wanted to see what would happen. It was bloody, and at least one wounded rat escaped.
I have more than a couple of friends who have been in that store and told me that they don't see how anyone can keep reptiles because they smell so bad.
The whole thing just irks me. There is a similar store in my parent's town. Where are all the good reptile stores?
/rant.
I'm having a bad week so you get to listen to my rants. Sorry.
