Hi everyone.. I need help.. please if you can.

Short story.. my dogs are like my kids to me, and one was diagnosed today with bone cancer/bone infection, being very young and since it hasn't spread, the chances are high that if we amputate the leg he'll be able to live a normal life other than having 3 legs, which he wouldn't let slow him down at all. I hate asking for handouts, but Gambit is such a good dog and very important to me, not to mention very very young for this kind of a disease. Just take a minute and look over the fundraiser or share it with people you know.. if I can get 1500 people to donate a dollar, or 3000 people to donate .50 cents, I'll reach the goal needed to save him.

I wish you and your dog the best. I hope you are able to raise the funds. Nanci's dog lost her leg to cancer and she is doing well. Nanci could fill you in more and I have a 3 legged cat (not cancer) who is stronger and faster than all the other cats in the house. They do generally do well with three legs.
 
Good luck with your dog! If you aren't able to raise all the money you need, have you tried asking your vet (or nearby vets) if they would be willing to work out a payment plan? My boyfriend's dog just had an expensive surgery to remove a tumor (although not a leg), and that vet offered a very reasonable interest-free payment plan.
 
It took me nearly a year to pay off Bella's medical bills, even with help from a few generous people on this site. I was _very_ fortunate that my vet allowed me to make payments. Actually, I still owe quite a bit of it, just not to the vet. (Credit card, personal loan, etc.)

Which reminds me. Wells Fargo gave me a substantial personal loan, which would have covered it, had my truck not decided to go belly up right at the same time. So don't forget you can always ask the bank for a loan.

There is also Care Credit offered by a couple different banks, for vet bills.

My dogs are my life, so I understand the stress you must be feeling. I've heard dogs adjust to walking that very day with an amputation :) In truth, we almost amputated one of my dog's legs a while back.

My dogs are my family, and I know you feel the same about Gambit. As others have mentioned, maybe your vet would be open to a payment plan, and I personally love Care Credit.

Thank you very much everyone!! I made a few poor money choices when I was younger and because of that my credit is still pretty bad, when I had applied for care credit before we knew exactly what the situation was I was turned down, I don't think I'd be eligible for a bank loan either...I've wanted to get a credit card just for pet emergencies but hadn't gotten my credit back to a good place yet. I'm in college for Vet Tech degree, and had handed the Vet Clinic my application/resume since I need to be getting a job in a clinic soon to do lab work via distance for school.. I told them I'd work for free til the bill was paid, also applied for help via Red Rover.. looking for other assistance places like that.. someone via facebook mentioned holding a benefit..I like the idea, and I know I'd go to one for a dog, but I'm not sure how many other people would, and have no idea how to plan such a thing. But the vet has not come out and said whether or not they'll allow a payment plan..but I'm hoping with application and the fact I've just paid 1200 in visits, pain pills, x-rays, and the biopsy, I would think they'd be understanding.. but like I said haven't officially said. ..Thank you

I'm glad Gambit made it through his surgery okay. I got a couple of updates from the fundraiser, but they went to my spam folder. I didn't recognize your name, so I deleted them. :( Then it dawned on me, so I opened the one from today.

I hope he continues to improve.

I read the update after surgery. When Bella had her leg amputated, I sure couldn't detect that she was in pain at all! He will be just fine. Our neighbor dog has a front leg amputation due to being hit by a car- also fine. They adapt so fast!
