Plain toast, no-fat yogurt (blech), bananas, plain chicken breast meat have been my friends. And I'm one who loves spicy food. So this whole thing has been a bland experience I wish to not repeat any time soon.
is that the B.R.A.T. Diet? You should try apple sause. It's easy to get down with out the work.

I'm sorry you've been sick. I went through that right before I got married to my husband. They finally gave me Sypro because they had no idea what was making me ill. (Sypro is what they give you if you have anthrax poisoning, it pretty much kills everything, but you can only have it 2 times in your life or else your body doesn't respond to treatment).

Best of luck & Best wishes :D

Any idea if it might be diverticulitis? (I'm sure I misspelled that...) Specifically, it's inflamed pockets in the colon, and quite common in the modern world. Both my father and my grandmother on my mom's side have had it, and my dad had to have half his colon removed.

I hope you figure out what it is soon... get well.

BRAT diet, yep, and it sucks for taste.

I tried applesauce early on when I was first sick, but it seemed to irritate my innards more than I thought it should have, so I haven't eaten any in a few days. Yogurt seems to be a better alternative, especially with the active bugs in it.

I had to change to white bread, which we don't normally buy around here, because the whole wheat was causing too much internal gas pressure and making me hurt. Pft.

As for diverticulitis (which you spelled correctly), I'm sure it would have shown up on the ultrasound. He said that everything looked normal, so I'll have to trust his opinion until I can see the GE next week and see what he thinks. I also seem to be out of the typical age range that it affects and seem to also not fit into the category of people who're afflicted with chronic intestinal issues (Crohn's, IBS, Colitis, etc). But we'll see what the doc says.

Right now I'm just hoping it was another "stomach flu" bug like I think I had a couple of weeks ago, just worse. Or at least something that's easy to fix (appendicitis/gallbladder).

Did they do any tests for food allergies? I'm allergic to coffee in that intestinal way. Too much, and the john and I are good buddies. Hope you start feeling better. And I know I wouldn't be complaining if I could lose 13 lbs in a few weeks.

lol I'm the same way with eggs.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, hope they can come up with something so they can give you some meds to make it all go away. I can always use extra pinkies and if you need any help getting caught up with your critters don't think twice about asking. Work might kick my butt a bit but I can always work up some extra energy when needed. And here's an extra bonus...When you are back up to power how about a trip to the Log Inn? We'll call it a late birthday/glad your better dinner. Probably sounds icky right now but it will give you something to look forward to.

Until then keep resting and get some fluids. :wavey:

I've never had a food allergy in my life. However...

Eggs tend to make me well acquainted with the loo, but only if they're scrambled or not cooked completely (over easy is my fav). Hardboiled doesn't bother me, egg drop soup doesn't bother me, deviled eggs don't (or didn't). And usually if I eat eggs and I get the runs, it goes away after the first instance. Which for me, isn't bad enough to keep me from eating them. lol

Although, the day before I got fully sick, I ate 3-4 deviled eggs that I'd made a couple of days previous. Later that night I had a twinge of nausea at Applebee's, like 2-3 hrs later. Then the next day I'm sick as a dog.

Pork fat has been giving me increasing problems lately. Bacon, sausage, pork loin, other moist/fatty meats don't agree with me. But again, I don't eat them enough to warrant seeing a doctor about it. Ham doesn't bother me, oddly enough.

Milk makes me slighly bloated feeling, and if its milk gravy (or any sort of cooked milk) I might have an issue. But I still drink it and eat dairy products regardless. =P

I sure hope I'm not allergic to coffee. Before I got sick at the beginning of January, I was drinking it like a fish. Then, on the way home from Indy we stopped past Starbucks and about 30 miles later I got sick. I haven't had the courage to touch it since.

Its worth exploring I suppose if the GE doesn't have any ideas or input about it. My mother is allergic to everything but animals.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Diverticulitis usually would not show up on an ultrasound but I would think you are way too young. Also for things like Giardia and something called C. Diff (if you have been on antibiotics in the last 1 - 6 mo) you sometimes need to give more than one sample (just like the snakes!).

Cipro can be given more than twice in a lifetime and while it kills a lot of bacteria, as with any antibiotic the more it is used the more likely bugs will become resistant.

Good Luck and keep feeling better. Hopefully this is all some unexplainable virus and will go away on its own.

Jo

Nope... they require a colonoscopy for that... Colonoscopies are unpleasant enough that if ultrasound worked, that'd be the preferred method of diagnosis.

You may have a problem with yeast. It sounds similar to the symptoms. Try reading "The Yeast Connection" or talking to your doctor about anti-yeast medications like Nystatin or something similar. Just a thought. Hope you get some answers soon!
