IMPORTANT INFO!!!!

Hello all,
I have some really important news that I wish you to spread around. Last year me and my friend bought snakes from Walter Smith. All snakes we recieved tested positive for parasites. All together we lost 5 of the 11 snakes that we bought from him. He showed very good service in the beginning but when we tried to tell him our problem, he sent rude and hateful messages back to us. I suggest that if you are considering buying from him that you think twice. It almost cost me my whole collection.

Thanks for your time Charlene.

Well, this does pose a problem for me.

I really haven't set any policies in this forum about what people can say about one another. But apparently there are two ways I can go about it:

(1) The BOI method, where anything of this nature is fair game as long as someone owns up to what they are saying by providing their full name as identification, or

(2) The kingsnake.com method, where never is said a discouraging word.

The problem with choice #1 is that there already is a BOI, and I really don't need another one here.

The problem with choice #2, is that if someone were to say something negative about myself, and I were to delete it, then I would catch a lot of flak about that. Also if I don't allow negative things to be said, then is it really fair to allow only nice things to be said?

Opinions?

Why not just delete the thread and issue an email or PM to "cornsnakefreak0" telling him where he should be posting these messages. As long as there is a BOI there is no need for it here. Or at least that's my opinion...

Also can't say I'm thrilled with this same exact thread in 2 different forums on this very message board. (http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5028)

"And now, for something completely different."

To quote Monty Python and his Flying Circus.

Rich, I think you are on the right path with your reply.

I disagree, Kevin, with deleting the entire thread. That would not be a good thing, in the light of Kingsnakes.com. Nor would be in keeping with the spirit of what Rich has made possible here--a place where we have been able to voice opinions without the threat of unreasonable censorship.

Why not continue on the way you already have, Rich, stating to cornsnakefreak0, and to the rest of us by doing so, that a BOI exists already and to take up issues of his nature there and not here. CornSnakes.com Forums has it's own identity. A BOI issue, although the intent is good, is not a subject suitable for this forum.

Two cents given, now I'll get off my soap box.

No, wait a minute. I'll say it. There is a BOI already. Thank you Cornsnakefreak0 for the "heads-up." I can appreciate the thought. It's been noted, but CornSnakes.com is not the place for a BOI announcement. Sorry.

I have a suggestion, Rich.

Could a "formal" link to the Fauna BOI be posted on this site... that way it would be easy to access from this site? I hardly ever visit Fauna, and only found out that the BOI existed about a week ago. It's possible that cornsnakefreak0 didn't know about it either.

I agree that she shouldn't have posted duplicate threads, however.

Thanks for considering my suggestion!

Actually she had posted on several forums on the FaunaClassifieds site, but I had to delete all of them because each one violated one rule or another. I did email her and gave her the specific rules she violated and let her know exactly what would be needed to post her message on the BOI, which is where it belongs. So far, I have not seen her repost, nor has she replied to the emails.

So it just puts me in a bind about what to do about THIS thread. I know Walter, who is a likeable guy, and have done business with him, so my deleting this thread would likely appear as favoritism to some people.

So I guess the best thing to do is to do nothing until something better comes to me.

Well, she has posted on the BOI about this issue:

BOI post

But she still has not complied with my request to put the subject name in the topic line rather than that generic IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

I need to have a "stun" option on this message board system. ;)

In my defense...........

I would like everyone to know improtant info that has been left out in this slander against me.

First, on this claim that ALL of the snakes tested possitive of this parasite ( which is called what? ) I have no proof of this and have not been presented with any.

Now, the claim about the animals. I find it odd that she is asking for a refund on only ONE of alleged five animals. I have NEVER been contacted by her "friend" about problems with her snakes. I have also NEVER been contacted with problems from any of the other people who purchased the siblings to these animals, or about any of the other 600+ animals that I sold.

Also, the animal that is in question ( the one looking to be refunded on ) hatched on 7-29-02. That snake was not sent out until 10-28-02.
That snake was in my possesion for 3 months feeding with NO problems what so ever. I was just contacted with this problem at the end of January, so it was in her possesion for an additional 3 months before I was notified of this problem.

I have an animal guarantee as follows:

All animals are guaranteed to be sexed properly, healthy and have eaten at least two (2) meals prior to purchase. All meals taken will have been live or frozen/thawed pinky mice, unless otherwise stated. This guarantee will stay in effect for TWO WEEKS (14 DAYS) from the purchase date. This is for animals purchased at FULL LIST PRICE ONLY !!
After the 14th. day, I will assume you are happy with your
animal(s) and ALL LIABILITY on my part will then TERMINATE.

As you can plainly see I was not contacted about this problem until way past the allowed time. Now if someone contacts me a few days beyond the 14 day limit, I will certainly not have a problem with correcting the problem.

I ALWAYS make sure that I send out animals that are feeding, but this is not a feeding problem. This is a cliam that the animal was consistany regurgitating and I NEVER, send any animals out that would have a problem such as this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and ANY opinions would be greatly appriciated.

sincerly,
Walter Smith

I agree with Gregg, we don't need a BOI and all that tension here. Fauna's BOI functions relatively well, and there are already several people using it who have had generous contact with the professionals in question and they would probably be the best people to talk to about "questionable" professionals. Nothing is stopping us from going there, I do myself often and have no complaints about having to switch sites.

I just think...

it would be easier to switch sites if there was a permanent "link" to the fauna site. I see an occasional ad, but not a permanent link.

I also agree that the BOI is not needed in both places.:D

Nay I Say on another BOI

There is no need for another BOI, the present system works, it is to everyones advantage to keep it centralized over at faunaclassifieds.com for the across the board input one gets, where there is a wider cross section of people likely to have dealt with someone "movin the goods."

Re; this site:
A relatively respectful, family friendly, general admission, all ages, type overall tone to the this site would be and is a good thing and at this time I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a young grade school wanna be Corn owner or even my 99 year old gramma to research this site. (She loves her webtv "net".)
If you wouldn't want them to read it, as an act of respect, it probably could be expressed elsewhere on the net.
Like it or not many young people check this site out when the Corn Snake bug strikes them or to do a report for school.

If the need for uncensored, anything goes, acid tongued, say whatever comes to your mind type of self expression persists, A good place to go would be the widely diverse “USENET” groups. Respect is optional there.
A big jerks paradise. I know, I love it ;)

Always remember that Opinions are like Eyeballs, most everybody’s got at least one.
:)

P.S. Walter, You did and still do have a good reputation (B.O.I.) and I would not hesitate to conduct business with you.
You did nothing wrong and I’m convinced you would have cheerfully and politely dealt with any perceived problem within your guarantee period.
The fact that others with siblings had no reported problems would have me believe it is most likely the Customers snake husbandry practices at fault.

She sought basic information about worm infestation, cause and effect, for the first time after her snakes started droppin dead like flies on her.

This was an attempted hatchet job for spiteful reasons.imho. It must be your fault (4 months later) because it sure isn't hers, nothing she can figure she did wrong, I'm sure.
Charlene has no credibility...Walter does.

Rich,
Since you really shouldn't delete this thread, is there any way to close it so it doesn't become extremely long and, being closed, it may prevent any further BOI topics from being posted on this site.

Just a thought.

I doubt there is much chance it is going to get any longer here. It was posted on the BOI, and apparently it is now a dead issue. The BOI has a way of doing that when people post things that are without merit in most people's eyes. ;)
