In the water dish

He may be getting ready to shed. Or he might have mites. Or the temp in the viv may be too hot for him. Or he may just like laying in the water.

Check him for mites and check the temp. If these are ok, I wouldn't worry.

I have a ghost corn he as been lying in his water dish do any one no the reason for this
He could be too hot or he could be trying to wet his skin to make shedding easier.

I belive you can see them I think they look like little bugs crawling on your snake. They will look like little black dots.

Yes, you would see them crawling around. Also, since your snake has been laying in his water, there may be some dead ones in his water dish. They will be noticeable if you are looking for them. If you look and don't see any, he probably doesn't have them.

It's always interesting and puzzling getting to know a new snake. None of mine (5) have ever sat in their water dish for longer than a few minutes but, like everyone here has said, there's many reasons a snake would choose to do so. Snakes have a lot of individuality to their personalities I find. Mine are all pretty different from each other.

Have you got the temperature, humidity, hides and such at their optimal conditions? Search this forum for corn snake care sheets and read up on how to keep snakie happy if you have not already done so. This will certainly help to boost your confidence in caqring for your new pet.

With research and attention to detail, you'll figure out the mystery soon enough I'm sure.

Folks here are happy to answer questions.

Welcome and good luck!
