Intriguing head markings on '09 clutch

Kaminoke

River Valley Reptiles
Hello, fellow corn snake lovers. I am the proud owner of ... (let me count) ... 14 corn snakes. Until this moment I have been a periodic lurker and have made no contributions to the forums. At the beginning of August I had my very first clutch of corn snake eggs hatch (Hooray!). I am not a breeder by trade, and these eggs were actually an accident (that female normal that I received from a friend and put in with my female reverse Okeetee wasn't quite so female). Thankfully I have a good friend who is a breeder, and she incubated and cared for my little ones until they hatched.

I post now because several of these little ones have a rather amusing/remarkable/disturbing pattern on their head. None of them are rare morphs - just normals and amels, maybe a couple reverse Okeetees. But this pattern is obviously a genetic trait, as they all have a relative shape (at closer inspection the mother has a small shape on her head that is similar but definitely not the same). Anyway, the best example is attached to this post.

Maybe I just have a dirty mind, but tell me, what do you see?

I'm sure some of you have also had cool designs. I have a hatchling with a heart-shape on her head too. But has anyone seem something as... interesting.. as this?

Yes I have! That's technically called "twig and berries", but it looks more like a D*** and Balls. My friends hatched out some like that and we called it the last one D&B LMAO. I saw the real name for the head pattern in the 2009 Cornsnake Morph Guide (pg. 10). The only time I have seen it was with normals just like yours.

Mine has a head marking just like that. My boyfriend makes fun of it all the time x] I personally don't care, she's pretty regardless, as is your little hatchling :]

I've actually got an '07 Motley with a similar head pattern. I hope you don't mind, but i've added a picture. :)

His head pattern has faded quite a bit since he's gotten older. It's barely noticeable now. :)

My new little one has the same head pattern. I actually bought her though. I named her Ophelia. I love your little one.

That's actually why we chose our normal female, Selwyn, from her clutchmates. All the others had the typical spear pattern but she had the "meat and 2 veg" pattern. ~LOL~ We told the guy at the pet store, "we want the one with the p***s shape on its head" :p

But we don't tell her that story because we don't want to hurt her feelings . . . . the other snakes might make fun of her and call her "p***s-head"

I have an amel that has the exact same pattern and another normal with it as well, though on the normal it is less pronounced. The rest have it, but it's stretched in a way where calling it a twig and berries is a stretch. One has a perfect heart shape which more closely resembles the pattern on their mom. I will try to get some more pictures soon. Right now I've been more concerned about getting these finicky guys to eat than having a photo shoot. :\

Here are two from the clutch with "hearts".

(Sorry for the double post)
