Introducing Wash - Brazilian Rainbow boa

Wow! Amazing iridescence! Is it really that awesome in real life too? I don't think I've ever seen a Rainbow Boa!

Thanks! We actually do quite well with catching the iridescence, I hear more often how hard it is to get on camera and that people say theirs are prettier in person. I think they are beautiful in all lights but do have to admit that my Mom had loved all the pictures of Zoë she had seen online but didn't think she was as neat looking in person when she finally got to see her. Like most anything, it is probably all in the eye of the beholder ...

What kind of housing do you have for your BRB's? I would really like to have one so am trying to read as much as possible :) I've been looking at Boaphile vivs...

Currently we have three of them in tubs, those work pretty good but usually have to battle it being too humid a bit. The other one is in a Critter Cage tank with three quarters of the screen top covered with plexiglas, that one we have to fight a little bit to keep humid enough but on the whole, the tank is probably the easiest to keep right.

Hmm...my house is pretty anti-humidity so I have a hard time in general keeping it very humid...I don't have many that require higher humidity so it hasn't been a real issue

Wash is being a bit of a poop, refusing several meals in the last month and a half, not sure what his problem is, except that he did go through a shed during part of the time he has been fussy. But he's still looking good, as can be seen in these pictures from this morning.

Got Wash out to weigh him today and my husband snapped a few pictures. He is up 78 grams.

And a very close up of his eye.

Thanks! He was being very calm, just chillin out in my hand and let my husband get close enough for that good close up shot.

Wash got his cage deep cleaned today, so I snapped a few pictures while he was sitting in a tub waiting for me to finish up with his cage.

It is the Zilla Jungle mix, I really like it. Although we just recently found some huge bags of peat moss at the local garden center without any additives and will be using that now, as it is a lot cheaper! But finding it with no fertilizer in it is hard around here, we got so excited finding those bags the other day!

I will keep the Jungle mix in mind for when I have tropical animals, & CONGRATS on the find!
I know reasonably priced substrate is hard, especially with a lot of scale babies

Today was a very nice day, one of the nicest of the year so far, so I decided to get some natural light pictures of some of the snakes. So Wash got his first outdoor photo shoot today! I don't think he was impressed with the great outdoors, he just froze when I took him out, which was great for taking pictures anyway.
