Introduction and animal abuse

LONG BUT WORTH IT.

So because I'll probably bring up the dogs a few times, I might as well introduce you to them and tell you the story on how i got my newest. I love larger dogs. I'll eventually get a Shiba Inu when I move into my own place. My mom however is allergic, so small is the way to go anyway.

I love them, I am very picky with anything they eat/do/etc. They are spoiled.

In some pictures you may see, they will be in sweaters. This is only in the wintertime, and they love it. I do not dress up my dogs. Louie does no wear sweaters cus he doesn't like them.

Shiver (Black and tan) is an 8 year old Chihuahua Miniature Pinscher cross. She sticks more to my mother. She is a complete snob and a suck.

Maggie (Red) is a miniature pinscher. She is a skittish and awkward, and tends to stick to me. She loves to lie under covers, doesn't matter how warm it is outside or in the house.

Louie is our newest (Blonde chihuahua)

So finally, Louie's story:

My boyfriend is currently living with his sister Lisl. Lisl is an animal hoarder, and doesn't care for them. She currently has 2 cats amongst the other animals, both of whom have 4 kittens each. She bought Louie one year ago when he was too young to be taken. Bought him as a teacup chihuahua (Breeding the runt of a litre over and over again, often dangerous for the mom)

For the past year, I have seen many different types of abuse and neglect
- Beatings
- Locking him in rooms without food or water for 12+ hours
- They had a larger dog, and was feeding him the same food since he was a pup. The kibbles were too large and he could barely chew them. When big dog left, they fed him smaller adult dog food, but he still wouldn't eat.
- When dog food ran out, she never bought more. He was forced to eat the cat food.
- They never house trained him. When he went on the floor after not being let out for sometimes days straight, they beat him and locked him in the rabbit cage. Cold, hard floor. Rabbit food and water thrown around. Nothing else.
- A toddler who was allowed to do whatever she wanted with him while Lisl laughed. She would pick him up like a stuffed animal

I was sick of it. I had shed tears over the treatment of the dog, and had been trying to get him out of the house. Finally, she agreed. I paid 200, and took him. He wasn't originally going to stay with me, but he fit in so well.

We took him to the vet. He had to get all his puppy shots redone and had to get 8 teeth pulled out. (His adults grew and his puppys never fell out, so he had shark teeth). We also got the poor little guy neutered.

His spine and ribs no longer show as much, and he is almost completely house trained :) He loves being petted, but hides when anybody raises their voice or if he, say, gets sick. Poor little guy. He has now been with us for 3 months :santa:

Has anyone else rescued some needy pets?

Thank you for getting him out of that horrible environment! I absolutely hate stories of animal abuse!

I rescue only senior dogs that are on the euthanasia list. I work with a rescue group that travels to some of the more rural shelters around the state, evaluates the dogs, and brings them back to their shelter for vetting and whatever behavioral training they need.

Again, thank you for getting Louie out of there. No animal deserves that kind of treatment. I would be very worried about this woman's child, being allowed to abuse pets while the mother laughs, continuing the cycle of abuse. Do you think the child is in danger? What about the other animals?

Kathy

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks Kathy :)

A lot of the animals have since been taken. A family friend took the rabbit. The salamander is overweight....at least last I saw. Chances are she got bored and stopped bothering to get crickets...

The kittens are about old enough to find homes, so hopefully they are out FAST.

Molly has nannys that care for her. I think that's the best she has going for her. But she is fed, not beaten, and has her basic needs. Lisl is a stripper, so she is barely around for Molly, and I don't agree with the way Molly is being raised, but I don't think it's enough for childs services to come in. The best we can do is be there for her :) I think she looks at me as a "cool aunt". At least I like to think so :)

I have a house full of rescues. Both dogs are shelter dogs. I have 4 cats that are 12, 9 and the two kittens, they were all rescues or abandoned. I have a rescue bearded dragon who is missing part of her tail and a few toes. I have a rescued baby butter corn that had stopped eating, I am getting fatten back up so he can find his forever home. I have a rescued feeder mouse that is missing her tail. My husband brought it home from work the other day. I literally have a zoo because I also have two teenagers LOL

It is really wonderful to 'rescue' animals in bad situations. I fear though paying her money to 'rescue' only gives the person inspiration to breed and sell more. Something has to be done for sure but paying for a rescue especially to a hoarder??? Bless you though for helping the animals.
