Thanks ya'll. After I saw the picture and Googled it, I am pretty sure that's what it is. I live right by a bayou and I've heard other people talk about snakes on their porches and one lady was scared because one came in through her doggie door and she turned on the light to find him in the middle of the floor! :sidestep: I just wanted to if it was a venomous snake or not. I'm not into wanting the wildlife killed just because I'm afraid, you know? I think he was just warming himself on my patio. Plus, I have plants and whatnot and there's lots of toads and anoles and geckos - what a feast for him. He was pretty calm. He just looked at me and I looked at him and backed up slowly as not to scare him, though my feet being so close to him in the first place. But he wasn't coiled up ready to strike. He was trying to move away when I took the photo. When I checked about fifteen minutes later, he was gone. Just in case I or my son or dogs ever startle one and it bites, I will feel better knowing it's not a venomous snake. Thanks for the help.
