Hello, I have a cornsnake, Coco, that I've raised since she was a hatchling. She is now about five years old and over five feet long. Once or twice a week, I move her from her cage to a table in our "project room" and let her have a little slither. She generally slithers around the table, moves down to the chairs for a while, then drops (gently) onto the floor. She always heads to the same corner in the room and coils up in a box I keep there for used mailers. She burrows under most of the envelopes, but often sticks out her head, I guess to keep an eye on things.

Coco is almost always anxious to get out of her cage to go for her slither, and often pushes on the top with her nose. Do you think that there is any harm in letting her explore in this way? Thanks.

Should be fine as long as she a) can't get into a hole/space that you can't get her out of (people have had to demolish sofas and other furniture in the past to retrieve Corns), and b) can't come into contact with any potentially harmful chemicals e.g. make sure nobody uses air freshener in the room where she exercises or spray polish on the surfaces where she slithers - that sort of thing.

As long as you keep an eye on her I don't see why it would be a problem. Welcome to the forum BTW, I see this is your first post. And your a west coaster ;) you'll need to post pics of your girl soon, we love pics!
