Is This Shedding?

CornPony

For about 4 days now, my new baby corn (got him Oct 5), has been looking kinda ragged. His skin looks kinda wrinkled and there are a couple places where it looks like he is shedding.

However, I've never seen the blue, cloudy eye-thing I've heard described here. And, since its my first snake and (if he's shedding) his first shed, I don't know what to look for!

His color is much duller than when I bought him. When I put him back in his cage after handling he rubs around a lot on the walls and his hides. Kinda like he's trying to shed. But again, I don't know what shedding looks like! Also, I've noticed him "yawn" very big several times.

Does this sound like shedding to you guys? If so, is there anything I can do to move this along?

don't worry

Yes, this does sound like shedding, what I would do is raise the humidity, by placing the water dish over the heating source and sparying a corner of the cage with alittle water she can move through to help loosen up he skin, a bath might also be nice, slightly warm water with your hand in it as an escape and for not too long so as to keep stress to a minimal. Also if you notice she is half-way through a shed and it seems to be taking a while then place some crumpled up moistened paper towels in with her which she can crawl through. She may be alittle extra nippy too, one of my corns gets super sensitive to me when shes shedding and just seems to want her privacy, that's normal (PMS)

hope that helped....

Thanks. I'll try some of your suggestions.

Who knew I'd get so fond of a snake so quick!!! I just can't believe how cool they are!

Tell me about it! I knew I'd like Suzy, but think he's ace!

Anyway, the reason that you may not have noticed the blue eyes is that they go blueish, then after a day or so go clear again. If you handle him in the evenings it'd be easy to miss.

When Suzy first shed he was hiding away all of the time, and I was doubtful whether his eyes were blue or not - but next time you'll notice for sure!

OK. Shedding Progress Report. :)

Today when I checked on him, he has peeled his skin back from his nose to almost past his eyes. He kinda looks like he's peeling a sock off!

A couple of days ago when I got him out he really looked bright and pretty! So I thought he must have shed but I couldn't find it anywhere. Then today when I changed his water there was his shedded skin stuck to the underside of the water bowl!

OK. Deep breath. We got through our first shed! :)
