It takes some dedication to feed baby snakes!

Do you know why eastern milksnakes aren't more popular? Because the babies are tiny and can be a pain in the butt to feed. Here a short clip showing what I go through twice a week. Those are chopped up pinkie parts. Sorry the video is a bit jerky, my tripod wasn't cooperating :(

Cool! How much does he weigh? What did you have to do to get him on pinks? And Big Cheese sells reds...

I got him in October and he didn't eat for 6 weeks so I cooled him for about 3 weeks and then let him warm up for another 1 week. Despite not eating, he was a fiesty little thing, striking at anything that came near. I decided one day to chop up a pinkie into small parts and place a piece in front of him. He stuck at it with a closed mouth a few times and just as I was about to give up, he grabbed onto and swallowed it down. He has readily accepted food that way ever since. I haven't weighed him but I can tell he's getting bigger. He has shed once since I got him and should be due in a few weeks. The chopped up parts seem to digest very quickly.

awesome video, he's soo tiny and adorable! your doing a great job with him!

those are the only type of milk snake we have here in Ontario, there quite adorable.
but under serious protection here.. :( hopefully it helps.

It absolutely takes dedication!!

I have a juvenile female that decided to go off eating when she was shipped to me in November. Took me six weeks to get her eating. Tried every trick in the book! I decided to order some mice from a new vendor, and when adding to my cart, I noticed they had XS chicks. I added a bag on a whim. Started by offering her some pieces, then a f/t pink along with the bits-o-chick. I gradually increased the mouse size and gave her less bits, and last week she ate TWO fuzzies that had only been "dipped" inside the chick for a minute (much easier than the weekly dissection - ugh!).

The best news? She's gained back everything she lost, and added over 20oz. to that :)

Beautiful baby you have there, and congrats on getting him eating! :)
