I saw my first blooming tree today, an Eastern Redbud! I have to get one.

Also, not only is there a freeze warning for tonight, but also a tornado watch till 10:30 PM! Good ol' weather radio...

ee Tornado, Hope that doesnt come true!.

Spring eh? cool... maybe you'd like to tell nature around here that lol. Cool photo nanci :)

The tortoises are out in their burrow, with the heating pad on a thermostat heater installed until Tuesday, at least. They haven't awakened for a couple months. The box turtles are out in the rain. I'll go plant them deep in their hibernaculum after this storm passes. I really don't think it can freeze tonight. They HATE coming inside.

That's not the redbud I saw- just an Internet example. I'll take my camera and get a picture of the real one!

My tornado preparedness involves placing a pillowcase on every viv, having the pigeons' Swiss Army carrier ready to go, having Isabel's carrier ready, and-what? Gathering them all up to run out the door- then what? My next door neighbor has a bomb shelter, but no ladder down into it. Get in my truck and run away? Go lay in a ditch? I've been looking at underground shelters, but this seems so much simpler. I'm not that scared in hurricanes, but for a tornado, IF you get any warning at all, it's minutes. It's unlikely I'd be sleeping out there all night, or anything.

Haha, is winter only 3 weeks long for you guys? We get like, 5 months worth of winter out here.

I love it when flowers start coming out, our crabapple and chokecherry trees get some gorgeous blooms.

What makes winter weird down here is there are shrubs that prefer to bloom in the winter. And it's a sign of spring when the robins leave.
