I realize that Pops has little black spots, but I'm pretty sure that's dirt from the previous owner, I havn't seen any of them move, and a few of them are larger than little spots, would it be advisable to give him a bath? And if so, how?

I love the photos! I am a newbie having recently purchased my first corn but can see how it can easily become an addiction. I am dying to get another one but we are probaby moving in the fall so I want to wait until after then to add another one. It is taking a lot of restraint though! I walked into a reptile shop the other day just to "look" and quickly realized I cannot do that. I almost walked out with their normal adult male corn.
I took a closer look at the spots on Pop and I'm pretty positive they are not Mites at this point. I looked closely at some and they were lines, I took a pair of tweezers and they came out pretty easy, they seemed to be really small splinters. Some of the more dot-esque shapes wiped off easily and didn't leave a smear. I think a nice bath may be in the future. I am keeping my out for more spots to appear, he's living on Paper Towels at the moment.
Lol, it is quite the addiction... I started with one corn snake back in November '07... I managed to hold off on #2 until December '08, but that one must've broke my unusual restraint--I've gotten 10 more in the 6 months since then! Still debating if that's a good thing or a bad thing... Lol.
Concerning Pop, whether or not he has mites, it would be a good idea to treat him as a preventative measure.. The mite remedy that was linked earlier looks great! I hadn't thought about mites much until I was given snake #12, a ball python kept in terrible conditions and has questionable health, this month, and I think I'm going to track down some Nix and use it on my entire collection, just for the peace of mind... I would suggest you do the same. Then you can reassure yourself (and us) that the specks were *just* dirt. =)
