Itty Bitty Sadded Puppy- New pics 10/23/11.

So, according to the ultrasound, Lucky does indeed have mild hydrocephalus. The only apparent neurologic result of this so far is the fact that he's actually deaf. Doesn't respond to noise at all, so far as we've seen.
So is there some idea as to how long the little guy might live? He's such a cute little guy... Hope he live and loves LONG!

As for his howling and his deafness... Being partially deaf in one ear, I can understand him being a "loud talker". LOL. However, I tend to overcompensate and have to repeat myself quite often. LOL. I wonder if he can ever "overcompensate". :shrugs:

Picture update!

I managed to take some (poor quality) photographs of his x-rays. They bring home just how HUGE his head is.

Lucky also just got to have a massive running zoom around the floor. So active that only one good picture came out.

X-ray #1, Positioned as if you were looking down on him. He's on his belly in this one.

X-ray #2, Positioned as if you are looking at him from the side. He was a squirmy monster for this view.

And this morning, being a super duper crazy puppy!

When I was a kid, I remember seeing someone selling chihuahua puppies in a parking lot and one of them had such a huge head s/he couldn't walk properly without falling over. It was disturbing.

He's a very cute little guy, although I have two shih tzus myself, so I might be a bit biased. I hope he lives. :)

Lucky is 10 weeks old now! He's also doing incredibly well on his steroid medication and can hear well enough that he wakes up if you make kissy noises.

He's also up to 1 lb 3 ounces! He's HUGE!....comparatively. *cough*

Sometimes when I look at him, I find it hard to believe there is chihuahua in this dog. But then today I gave him a bath and thoroughly washed his face. So let the 'drowned rat' pictures commence!

Lucky has also graduated to the playpen that Cathy (ceduke) was using to house her kitten Kyubey. He is no longer Aquarium Dog... though I think that nickname will stick forever in this household.

"But Mommy, it's so hard to SEE you now!"

My only dog was a stray I found in a ditch. I brought him home, bathed him, feed him, loved him, took him to the vet and found out he was in the last stage of distemper. His name was Speckles; he was my puppy for that one day. I love him still.

I think the title of this thread is misleading.....
yes he is itty....
yes he is bitty.....
but I don't think he is sadded anymore!!! :)

Lucky went off to a new foster-momma on Monday. I miss the little monster, but he's certain to be adopted soon.

You did good, little boy. You may be dumb as a brick, but you're happy and loving. You're adorably funny looking. You've overcome so much. And 7 ounces to 7 lbs in 2 1/2 months? Where were you hiding the miracle grow?

A few picture of Lucky/Loki's last night, romping with Alyssum. Sorry they're blurry!
