I've Been Working On My Cages

You know what I need, a second thermostat probe. Then I can control the upper cage in the summer, and the lower cage in the winter.

I can't wait to get some snakes in there!

I do something similar with our rack in the closet. We use the heat cables, only for the moment until we can build or buy a real rack, and I have more down on the lower shelf then I have on the top so that when the heat rises it is more evenly distributed. I also use a digital thermometer that tracks highest, lowest, current temps in addition to the humidity that is in the racks or tubs. I check them off and on all day long, just to be sure everyone has enough heat.

During the summer though, I have to turn off all the heaters and keep a fan on the cages though. It gets too hot here (110F +) and the extra heat would cook them if I left them on.

Well, it's getting up to 90F in my house now. Really, it doesn't get much worse. Tonight I think it's supposed to get down to 69, and then drop through the day tomorrow, so the heaters will actually get a chance to work! Without heat or AC, my house generally stays about 10 degrees warmer than outside.

I'm not sure when to move Maize also considering the parasite situation. She's had one treatment, but three more to go. Does it matter? I guess I'll ask the vet Tuesday.
