Janine Is A Kingsnake!!!

Nanci

Alien Lover
Officially! She had her first clean-up job today. Jasper graduated to a peach fuzzy, but for some reason I can't count and thawed double pinks for him, too. Janine was the most likely candidate of the babies to have a nice dessert after her hopper!

Congrats on your new garbage disposal. :) I love her colors. She looks almost like a white-sided black rat.

I can't wait for Harliquin to get to that point. Right now he's 15g and my smallest.

I usually use Persephone, the black rat for that duty. She's almost always willing to chomp down anybody's left overs.

Janine is up to 190 grams now. It's a good thing Janine is not a cobra, because she tagged me on the elbow when I was hooking her out of her viv! Somehow she always knows if it is feeding day or not, and any body part is fair game.

I have to take pics of her next feeding day. She's up to 214 now. She struck at me with extreme force when I went to get her out to feed. Why was she gentle as a lamb last night? How can she tell?? Anyway, she was so entangled with her vine that I had to hook them both out, then it took five minutes to disentangle her, then I tried to weigh her- how she can hold on to the outside of the collander so tightly I do not know...I don't use the hook to put her back in her viv after feeding, but I don't dilly dally around, either. She may be still hungry!

Are kings all like this? My baby bites me on a daily basis. The one that's coming next week has been described by his owner as "bloodthirsty". And this is from a guy with more experience than I could have in a lifetime. I think I see empty eye sockets in my future.

Did you take new photos of Janine last night?

Choco has never threatened to bite, except when her previous owner has come for a visit. Jake bit me once, and it was my fault. Jewel, while not nearly as scary as Janine, hasn't made actual contact yet, though she gets very hungry on feeding day.

Janine needs a new Over 200g thread!
