Jumping up in prey size: From weaned to Jumbo Adults?

Hi, I just got done feeding Mr Icky my last three Weaned mice. (Yes three at a time I know is risky but he didn't mind) Every time before last, I have been feeding him two Weaned at a time. They don't even show a bulge in his tummy. I weighed him just now and he is 400 grams. According the feeding chart I found off of this site he should be on Jumbo Adults. :eek: I had no idea he jumped up so much in size since I started feeding him weaneds, or else I would of jumped up to adults sooner if I had weighed him in sooner.

Thing is.... I'm not sure if he can get his head around one of those suckers. They are in my bros, freezer so I can't compare the size, but from what I remember they are big.


Its 1 and a half times the size of Mr. Ickys head right?
 
400g is quite a large corn......I don't feed jumbos all the time as I think they are a bit too much food for weekly feeding......We either feed adult mice once a week or if we go to jumbos, once every 10-14 days....You got to be careful you don't make your snake fat....
 
Yeah, I found that out. I figured since my snake was getting larger I should start asking for bigger mice. After about 2 months I noticed she was a bit rounder, not lumpy, just bigger towards her middle.
She's just a little slimmer now, looks good, still weighs in at about 940 grams.
 
If the feeding chart you're using is the Munson Plan, I wrote that chart. I keep meaning to make some changes to it. One of those changes is to eliminate Jumbo/Retired Breeder Mice from the plan altogether. A 400g corn can easily take them, but I think they're too much, even on a two-week feeding schedule. I'm sure there are a number of super-active, super-digesting corns out there that would do fine on them, but generally I think regular 25-30g large adults are big enough for max prey size for any corn.
 
My snake "gets out" regularly, and when she's not in blue she cruises alot. Still she was noticeably putting on weight.
The large mice were about 40 grams. The mice I feed her now are about 30 grams, every whenever I get a mouse(7-10 days).
 
We just weighed our amel male, 840g, God that was a surprise.....Joel laughed at my last post saying, 'how big do you think ours are then'. TBH we don't do the weight thing (only if they stop feeding, which is never except our male ball) We just judge how they look and how the feeder looks compared to the snakes. Not very scientific, but we prefer to do it hands on rather than mathematically. But still I was surprised at 840g, and he's not a monster at all....
 
That's what happened to me! I don't weigh her that often, last known weight before this was 850 grams. I noticed she was heavier just by eye, started feeding her less. Next time I weighed her, about a month ago after being on a "diet" for a while, 940 grams.
