i got a new female a few weeks ago and she just had her first litter about 5 days ago. when i wet in to look ant how many she had i noticed a little white rear end sticking out from under her. when i opened the lid she ran down to the bottom of the cage,(she is not a very good people mouse yet, but she is a very good mother.she hasn't tried to eat any of the babies)any ways i saw a fully formed baby it had all its toes and even little whiskers, but the poor thing was born without the top of its head and its brain.i know it wasn't eaten because it was an even hole all the way around. and you could see down to it spine.mom was trying to keep it warm.but it made a good first meal for one of my non-eaters, has any one else had something like that happen??

Well usually if a deformed baby is born the mother just eats it and you don't really get a chance to see it. I've seen half eatten babies before tho.. and it's not a pretty sight..
