Leopard Geckos And Hiding Pets From Parents

lol i didnt mean get a real job harshly i guess it did sound harsh though my apologies i meant like a steady job rather then little things here and there wasnt meant to sound harsh for any reason

I should also add that I am 25 and still living at home. I moved out briefly when I was away at school, lived in an apartment, paid rent, paycheck to paycheck, yadda yadda, the whole nine yards... was "fun" but taxing. So once I graduated and started teaching, I knew I needed a masters and told myself I'd stay with my folks until I could afford to buy a house (e.g. after the masters) and not waste money on rent! So my patience has paid off- I have managed to get the masters and will start house hunting this fall...

I've also developed a nice collection of critters, which I keep at school in my classroom... very educational for the students, but at the same time, nerve wracking for me... if even ONE parent complains and the principal says the animals have to go... then what will become of my babies??? So again, I understand your situation, more than you may thing... and I still say hiding it isn't good... and a steady job is a MUST before you even consider it.

Beggars cannot be choosers... if you limit yourself to specific types of jobs then you limit yourself to the kinds of pets you can have. Without a job, how will you pay for food? Heating/lighting?? Emergency vet bills???

Sounds to me like you need to grow up a bit and become more responsible- show your parents that you are an adult and they might start to treat you like one. But if you are a 19 year old, ~1-2 years out of high school, still living at home with no job (I am assuming you go to college...?) then they probably still see you as an irresponsible HS kid!!

Well, i limit myself to specific kinds of jobs because if i did take those jobs, i would be a nervous wreck. Remmember what i said about the panic attacks? I can't really handle those types of jobs.

And i have been LOOKING FOR a job for a long time, and my parents know it. I've put in tons of applications. I'm not just staying at home and not even trying to get a job, i'm trying!

And i think i've convinced my mom to let me get a gecko now, anyway.

Glad you're getting the gecko. If I were you I would look for a job on the campus of the college you are going to attend. See if you qualify for work study. Many of these jobs would be well suited for your limits and employers undertand school classes/schedules... I would start now and not wait until college starts, if you are close enough. :)
