Looking for Middle Tennesse corn lovers!

Hi out there. I intended this message to go to Rich, but I don't know who all will see it. I am in Lebanon, Tennessee, and I would like to find fellow corn-snake people in the area. I think it would be nice to have some sort of informal local club here (or at least an awareness of each other!) for us to help each other. Is there a way to search this site by member location, in order to send an email to each one, asking if they'd be interested in getting together sometime?

I am not necessarily in Middle TN (I am roughly an hour away from Nashville) but keeping in touch with nearby herp enthusiasts sounds like a plan.

Khaman...

you aren't any farther away than some of the rest of us. You'd be welcome at any meeting we set up!

The only restriction is Tennessee's laws...no snakes can be brought into the state without an importation permit. If you end up wanting to bring some snakes for trade or sell, we'd have to figure out something. I am considering getting another annual importation permit. If I do, then I could bring your snakes in under my permit. Basically, whichever ones stay in Tennessee with new owners, I would report to TWRA as snakes I imported.

One more Tennessee law for you to be aware of is that those of us living in TN are supposed to have a propagation/facility permit in order to breed/sale our snakes. If you want to get "legal" snakes from anyone here, then be sure to ask for their permit number.

SnakeNutt - do you have any ideas on where we could meet? Or when? I think it would be cool to have monthly meetings at least.

CornCrazy,

I have sold to Aquatic Critter several times and every time they ask for my permit number and I keep having to remind them I live in KY. As for importation I guess if they are buying from me they are importing them.

Kentucky has some of the most lax herp laws in the U.S. (Though after Ohio I have seen them proposing new laws that I am in favor of). We still have to get importation permits the only problem is that you have to get a new permit for EVERY specimen you bring in it is largely ignored though because it does not specifically deal with reptiles as of yet.

I must not have made myself clear...sorry

It is whoever lives in TN that has to have the importation permit. One of us would have to say we brought your snakes in to the state, and then simply list your info as the breeder info. A receipt from you would also be necessary to keep things legal. It's really no big deal once people KNOW about the laws.

I got a note from Robert White(formally of aquatic critter) some time ago about him opening a new reptile store.Did that ever come to fruition? If so I'm sure he would allow folks to use his facility for this kind of thing... if not someone would.

You know...

one of the vets where I am doing my current rotation for school said that a new store has opened up in Nashville. It does have reptiles. I am not sure where it is or if it is Robert's store though. I'll see what I can find out next week.
