Today was a really, really rough day for me. I have to take prescription meds to help me sleep. Last night I decided to spend time with my yearling bloodred after I took my meds. This was a huge mistake :dunce: as I managed to pass out while I was holding him . I woke up in the middle of the night in a panic and spent hours looking for the little guy to no avail. With a cat and two dogs I was pretty sure I had seen the last of the little guy.

Fast forward to 20 minutes ago. I'm laying down on the same couch I was holding him on last night when I hear what sounds like a plop. I get up to check out whatever made the sound, ever so hopeful yet realistically doubtful that it was him. Low and behold there he was right on the side of the couch. He quickly tried to get away but I managed to grab hold of him before he could. The little guy was all shook up but no worse for wear. I held him for a minute or two to try to let him calm down before returning him to the safety of his home. He has never been so easy to put away as he quickly dove right into the cedar shavings and out of sight. :dancer:

Forgot to mention. He's actually my daughter's snake and she was set to come home for spring break this weekend. I can't believe how lucky I just got.

Lucky! Glad you found him so fast. It's pretty much a good idea not to take snakes out after you've been drinking, or taken drugs. You are not the first person this has happened to.

^^^^^^^^^^I second the cedar, please be using aspen and this was just a typo!!!

I take Ambien to sleep, so I know how it can be. I am glad you found him!

Oops. Definitely meant aspen shavings. And yes I agree I was very lucky.
