I actually read two articles about this, the other one said they called in a K9 unit to the scene and the dog alerted to drugs on the seat of his car, which is what also prompted the "internal" investigation. It also said that this poor guy was billed for part of the costs at the hospital.

If this was me, it would soon be "Smigontown" and "Michelle's Hospital"!

Oooh, that would have been a better ending for this forum! Sorry, you can't make this stuff up.

I didn't know about the parking lot stop signs, interesting to know. I think this guy was leaving the parking lot onto a public street which would be an illegal stop if he rolled through it. Nythain, I lived in St. Louis where STOP meant "Squeal Tires On Pavement"!
 
I'm forgetting where I read additional on this but the k9 unit has been brought under question in this instance as the particular dog has been known to hit for false-positives. It might have been on KOB's site with a followup article. Might have been at KRQE.com, which is another ABQ news station.

As i read the original article (back on 11/5 when it first published) to my wife that night, all she could say was WTF and I'm not to go field herping around Deming. What puzzles me is the reference to Grant and Hidalgo Co officials. Deming is in Luna Co. And i know of the exact walmart (it's the only one there lol ) that they speak of. Exiting that store is a charlie foxtrot unless you leave at the stop light controlled intersection.

Supposedly local law enforcement has no juristiction in private lots here, but i don't recall if that is a state thing or county/municipality thing.
 
Each and every law enforcement professional and health care professional involved in this travesty should be penetrated to the full extent of the law.

This guy needs to sell his story to Jack Link's Beef Jerky (<---see link). This has the makings for the perfect new 'Messin' With Sasquatch' commercial.

Even better than "All Dolled Up".
