male cornsnake bleeding

My female and male amel cornsnake where breeding and you could clearly see the lock. I had them in a rub with wood chippings for breeding I looked on them and I could see a piece of wood chip in his penis!!! I didn't know what to do, I let them finish and then I separated them, then my male started bleeding , not enough to kill him of blood loss but enough to be worried about ... what do i do

I would take him to the vet to ensure there is no internal damage and they can help you with cleaning, stitches if needed and antibiotics..

It's best to breed on newpaper so as not to worry about debris getting attached but in the wild it happens all the time. The bleeding is most likely not from the wood but if they separated before he was ready. I have this happen about once every two years and the male is fine, just make sure he doesn't continue to bleed. On newspaper it looks like a bloodbath but the male comes out fine.
