Male female

There are a few ways, David. Popping is commonly done in babies, probing and scale counts can be done at any age, and in many cases, you can just tell by looking at the tail. How old of a corn are we talking about here?

And welcome to Cornsnakes.com!

Honestly there's no way to tell by just looking at the snake; It needs to be either popped or probed by a person that knows what they are doing as you can really hurt the snake if done improperly.

I have read on some sites, that you can tell by the length of the "tail tip" and that males with have a small bulge right before the tail starts, and the tail itself will be much longer than that of a females tail, This is by no means scientific; and can most definitely give you a "false" answer.

It's also hard to do with only one snake as it is easier to see with a male and female for comparison..

Your best bet would be to go see a REPTILE vet! Or someone that knows about Herps, :)

I will go along with Chip and welcome you to the forum ^^ It's a great place. Probing and popping are common methods. I personally don't trust the length of the tail as much as the other two methods.

And if it's an adult it can't hurt to post a picture, I might be able to tell. Just the best pic of the underside of the tail including the cloaca, and if it's a mature male, well, some are quite obvious.

Make sure your vet is qualified!!

I had one Sex a BP for me.....And To this day....I'm not sure. No matter, as it's my only BP.

Basically....He lifts the tail and says..."Ahhh small spurs....Female" end of discussion.

In the back of my mind im thinking...."well thats not very accurate...now is it?"

If you can get your hands on a Kathy Love " cornsnake Manual" it as some REALLY good pics of the differences in male/females based solely on visual cues.
