Meet Bob, our big amel

Elder curmudgeon
I finally got around to taking some pictures, and will post a few here and a few over in the morphs area.

This one is of Bob, our big amelanistic. Bob is the orange one, with no shirt.

(The one in the glasses is my wife, Lesley (lesleym here (a contributing member, since she runs the money, and was here first (she claims I'll be able to get a fancy contributing-member widget after payday.))))

Anyway, as Lesley's introductory post said, she and our daughter found Bob on our next-door neighbor's back porch, and rescued the neighbor-wife from him. He's a very pretty boy, as you can see. I'm going to put him in a box with ruler and get a shot of him so we can get a valid measurement - I know he's over five feet, but don't know how much over. We'll also get a weight, and will post both when we get them.

He is a pretty boy! Just stretched out on the back porch, hunh? You know you've got a keeper when they come looking for you. LOL.

We fed everyone today, and got updated weights and photos. Did one of Bob, too. Here he is with a one-foot ruler. SnakeMeasurer from serpwidgets says he's 4 ft 9 inches (145 cm), and he tipped the scales at 2 lb 1.5 oz (949 g). Yeah, he's a big boy!

Wow, he is a big boy! How do you work the measuring thing from serpwidgets? I think I've tried using it before but couldn't figure it out? How do I get the download as well since I don't have it on my computer anymore...? Thanks.

Go to serpwidgets.com and look in the apps section.

Take a picture of the snake with a thing of known length - I have a 3-inch triangle (with 32nds marked) that I use for the little guys.

In SnakeMeasurer, click on Measurements, then Set Unit Length, then click on the two endpoints of your reference thingy (I use 1 inch). It'll ask you what does that represent - if it was three inches, enter 3, one inch enter 1, whatever.

Start at one end of your snake (or whatever it is) and click along its length, following its curvature. You'll get length indications at the upper left of the screen. When you're finished, the length is at the upper left.

I've cross-checked it, and it's pretty danged accurate. Super-cool little application!
