Meet Scout

I'm totally stumped by a problem with Scout's eyes. What is this white colouration? I know her shed was complete, so it shouldn't be retained eyecaps. It looks completely opaque, almost like a blob of tippex (correction fluid) on each eye.

Well she eats and poops and is growing, Fred, so if she can't see properly it's not affecting her too badly. I am curious though. I've just rechecked her shed, definately includes eyecaps, so I'm stumped.

Very nice looking snake, Janine. I like granites.
I have a female corn with pupils that are not perfectly round. Reminds me of a horses pupils almost...and I know that you know how weird that looks. But does not effect eating pooping, shedding, or growing.

Could they be Calcium deposits, are you in a hard water area?
BTW..... Scout?.... Named after Tonto's horse or Bruce Willis' daughter? LOL

Very hard water, off the chalk aquifers on the Downs. Never affected the other snakies, but I could try getting a water filter for her and see if it helps?
And yep, Scout after Tonto's paint horse, to fit n with my rootin' tootin' theme for the corns' names!

Sheep and goats pupils are the scariest things ever, imo!
I'm totally biased for my special kinked survivor snakie, but I shall pass on your admiration for her!

It was just something that Joel said to me when I asked him why......
He's a teenager so I can't get more than one word sentences and grunts ATM... I'll ask him more later, or you can pm him... He may answer you without swearing.... LOL

I knew that..... LOL... I just remembered that some poor girl got lumbered with it as well..... Still she could of been one of Zappas kids, they really got something to moan about......:devil01:

Can you check Scout's mouth Janine, just in case?
An infection can travel up the ducts to the eyes.

The first thing I think of when I read the name "Scout" is To Kill a Mockingbird.

I'm just off to work, Alan, but I'll check her mouth in the morning, I presume you mean looking for 'cheesy' deposits i.e, mouthrot?
And I read that book so many times as a teenager!

Yeah, any signs of mouth rot. I think you would have noticed it before it went to the eyes but just to be sure I would look.

Ok Alan, I got out of work a little late, but then I had all the fun of checking inside a very uncooperative little corn's mouth, but I was extremely happy to find a lovely pink, healthy-looking mouth, glottis and gullet.
Then I decided to try to get a picture to show you, using the timer on the camera. As you can see from the first picture, Scout's going into shed, so maybe her eyes will be clear afterwards. Scout was not at all amused by this devotion showed by her tired but caring owner!

Hee hee hee, I had a look in my Cheerio's mouth a few times with the same results. She was never so twisty and uncooperative before, it really showed me her muscle. I even took a hint from a website I read and tried using a piece of paperboard, it was easier to use my fingers.
Cool! I guess the spectacles were discolored or maybe loosened in the corners first by the shed process? I was worried because it was in the corners where the lacrimal ducts are.

Me too!!! When I was in high school I was made to read the book and watch the movie like three times >.<
Made to? That's one of my favorite films, a list which includes all of Mr. Peck's work.

I did tell her to hold still, but she wouldn't listen! I hope the white bits come off when she sheds, she's in hiding in her little tube maze now.

Well its not a bad movie, but I didn't like being forced to watch it like three times. Once was enough. Still a good movie though.

Scout's cleared up out of blue, so I offered her a small pink which she made disappear in no time!

Thanks Fred! She can take larger pinks, but I didn't want to risk a 'gurge with her close to shedding. Can't wait to see her new skin, I love her diffusion.
It's a shame she'll never be a breeder, but along with Lil she gets special 'pet' status.

Yeah... but she better get "special treatment"! :poke: She IS the "Kinky Queen" after all! :D
