Midlife Crisis Averted

Last summer, I took a couple motorcycle riding lessons from some very skilled friends and spent some time riding a Sportster around a parking lot.

So... Next week is my 40th birthday. I got this from a friend of mine about 2 months ago. I've put about 2,500 twisty mountain miles on her so far...

tyflier, good to see you back. Nice bike. I haven't had much riding time this summer but really have enjoyed what little time I have had. Have fun with the new ride.

Very nice! Congrats! Keep the rubber side down & the wind in your hair!!

Thanks, everyone!

I am very cautious. I always wear my armored leather jacket, long pants, and high top, heavyweight boots, gloves, and full-face helmet, though I do admit to not using the face shield most of the time. I wear ANSI-rated riding glasses to protect my eyes, but I really enjoy feeling the wind on my face, so I keep the shield up unless it's raining, blowing dust, or heavy traffic.

I'm also very much a speed limit kind of guy. I just don't see the need to go much over it most of the time. I'm content to hit the highway and set the cruise control to 70mph and cruise. I have no need to ride at 160mph, though this bike could certainly do that if I so desired.

I'm more about cruising the twisty canyon roads, though. I avoid the highway most of the time simply because prolonged straight lines bore me. I really enjoy carving up and down a twisted canyon road. Usually the only time I hit the highway at all is to connect several canyon roads in a single day...

Robbie...I get online very rarely these days. Smoke in the air has kept me from wanting to ride the bike very much the last couple weeks, so I've been getting on, but once these fires are out and the smoke clears...:wavey:

But CS.com is always "home"...
