milk snake question?

Cuddling with Colubrids<3
heyy everyone, so I have had my male Mexican milk for about 4 months now and I just finished feeding him and he bit himself again! hell strike like a mad man coil the pinky and then some how bite himself, and he dosent let go! until he's thinks the mouse it dead, he's also the tongs, the sides of his bin and me!

it's like he thinks he's part of the mouse! the first time this happend I thought it may have been a freak accident but now it happend again.. :( I don't want him to hurt himself. he seems fine afterwards but I also can't touch him to examine him cause he turns into Cujo when he's put into his bin..

he's a sweet natured Guy when not eating but when foods on the table all bets are off!
I just want to know what other milk snake owners have experienced with them when it comes too feeding time, are they all like this? or is Arber just over zelus? :( lol

I don't think it is anything to worry about. My ball python used to coil his mice and he'd always bite himself and constrict.

Yup very typical....just another kingsnake/milksnake acting like a psycho....

I have a Cali King that has done this 6 to 10 times over 4 years. My king will bite himself, hang on for a few seconds to a few minutes, then as nonchalantly as possible, disengage and then start on the mouse. I always wince when I see he has bitten himself, but apparently no serious damage yet.

aha, wow.. atleast I'm not the only one that has had this happen.
its a little unnerving but he's a great little Guy!

lol their quite funny snakes!

Yep my King is also a self biter. He started doing it about 6 months ago. I increased his feeding schedule to every 5 or 6 days and he doesn't do it much anymore. I just thought he was getting loopy with old age but I hear its common in kings/milks. Might just be a greedy little monster you have there.

yeah.. that's what I have heard aswell!

I originally got him to become a garbage can snake for the corn and the others I plan on getting down the road, and he seems to have noo problem with his job! ;)

he'd eat another snake if I let him! I know it.. phyco little guys they are!
