Mini egg?

Kat

I'm talkin' to YOU.

My ghost laid 6 good eggs, one of which is about half the size of the others, but still the consistancy of a 'good' egg. Has anyone else had this happen, and if so, can you speak for the viability of the smaller-size egg and/or any hatchling which might hatch out of it?

I bought the female last year in the fall... earlier this year, she pushed out one really huge slug, as best I can tell from whatever breeding she had last year. About half a week later, she laid these 6 good eggs and 4 slugs, including one egg which had obviously burst and somewhat hardened. At this point, I'm unsure if she's still holding any more eggs, and will have to watch her very carefully...

Atleast it wasn't a very critical clutch.. I expect anerys and ghosts with no other special genetics to hatch out...

I don't know about the egg hatching or whatever myself but if I had that little egg it would be babied!!! *LOL* A tiny little runt. :)

Good luck! I hope I get 6 nice eggs or more!

Mini Eggs

Hey Kat,

Last year, one of my girls laid 12 eggs (first clutch), with one that looked good, but was HALF the size of all the others.
I went ahead and incubated it.
It was one of the last to pip and hatch, but had an absolutely normal snakeling in it. It was just a half inch shorter than the rest.
I didn't take pictures, unfortunately, but that tiny egg did seem to 'grow' during incubation.

This year, my Snow female was bred to my BubbleGum Snow male.
First time for both of them.
This girl is smallish, so when she layed seven HUGE (easily 2" long each) eggs last week, I was really surprised. But her eigth egg was only a little over half the length of the others.
It looks good, and I'm hoping to see another normal-looking baby from yet another 'mini egg'.

Good Luck with yours.....
:)

I had one like that, smaller but really white. It looked like it was good. When we entered the 3rd week of incubation it started to go bad:(
I really hope that yours turns out good. Good luck.

Small eggs..........

I've had several eggs that size but only 2 that went full term. The 2 that went full term were fully developed but died in the egg (both Opals )........

Well.. I suppose it can't do any harm to incubate it anyway. BTW, I took the female to the vet and the Xrays came back negative for eggbinding, so that's one less thing to worry about...
