It's Jager time!
...Sweetpea that is

Philodryas Baroni! The weirdest little snake in the collection, whos just an absolute pleasure to keep. To think this 3ft almost 300gram snake was bought as a skinny little non feeding hatchling a mere 6 months ago...

Please note I had to aquire the help of a big hairy manly man to get these pictures as shes extremely difficult to photograph.

You can see just how long her tail is... The vent is slightly visable at the top of the page

What! And you didn't call me? :grin01:

Gorgeous snake

I'm sorry...but you simply cannot use the phrase "big hariy manly man" when referring to hands with such perfect manicures...it just doesn't work...it ruins the whole description ;).

Thanks for sharing pics of such a beautiful little snake. That tail is incredible!!

She's very, very nice. I need a truly green snake... :(

Thanks Dean, I think you would suit a nice big green boid... like an etb or chondro! One you didn't have to interact with :p

??

Elle, technically can you call her a hot?... How's her temperament, just curious as i've heard of people keeping them before, they do look quite awesome! Beautiful specimen by the way!..

Shes a rear fanged colubrid but I wouldn't go as far to say they are hots. They are one of the largest types in the genus but dont have the most potent venom. There have been reported deaths from other philodryas species. I can't remember off hand which ones though.

She was an utter spaz as a baby, and almost unhandable. But they are very reluctant to bite, almost impossible to make them strike. Shes a calm young lady now :) And frequently stretches out on the couch watching animal planet with us LOL

Although apparently we do everything wrong with her, since theres not much known about them we just have to go with the flow and keep her quite dry, not very arboreal and hot (88/90) whereas the very few breeders in the UK and Europe suggest to keep them very humid, strictly arboreal and cool (80). I guess since shes twice the size of last years hatchlings we are terrible owners :grin01:

She's looking great! I love her pink belly. Was she easy to get started eating mice? How long will she be when she's an adult?

Ed had to forcefeed her for a while, then she just started taking it on her own. Shes a shy snake, but shes that obsessed with food that it takes all her will power NOT to come flying out the tub for her mooses :)

Shes only 6 months old so shes not an adult yet... I suppose once shes about 2 years and 6ft! :p
