My baby corn Enoch seemed to have dissapeared from his tank sometime within the last week and we've torn up the place looking for him.

I've recently started a new (and very physically demanding) job and haven't quite given my baby boy as much attention as usual and feel like I should have noticed something was wrong when I didn't see him out at night for a couple of days but somehow put that down to him being in a mood and hiding behind his cork bark..thing. I tried to feed him today and he wasn't anywhere! :(

We live in a rather small basement apartment with tile floors so the tiles are constantly chilly and there are no heating ducts he can get into since they're all high up on the walls/ceiling. I'm so worried that I won't find him before he dies or something; he's my first corn and don't think I'd be able to replace him.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
 
First, what kind of hide do you have in the tank? Second, have you looked UNDER his tank. I find that often my babies don't go far when they get out.
Check around your computer. Open up your CPU if you use a desk top. he may be inside. Take his hide out and place it somewhere near the tank (on the floor if you suspect he has gotten that far) and put a pinky inside. he may come to the smell. Keeping your lights out/low is a wise choice.

He has one of those cave hide things. From Exo Terra. We've checked around the computer a few times and under the tank. We've even moved the tank temporarily onto the bed to make sure he wasn't under it. We've moved all the furniture away from the walls except for my boyfriend's monster of a desk because it's wedging a support against the wall for his boa's 90 gallon tank.

I'll try placing a pinky out tonight since he's way overdue for a feeding and see if I can convince my boyfriend to take his CPU apart. I doubt it, but I'll try. I hope Enoch's alright. Thanks for the advice!
 
To be clear, you don't have one of those fake logs do you? Many a corn has been thought to have escaped when they are actually in a hidden nook in the fake log.

Nope, it looks like a large piece of bark. There are no nooks or crannies or openings at all on it.

...but to be safe, I'll check again.
 
I hope your little one comes out soon. I have read that they can be found in the most unusual places.
 
Good News!

Enoch turned up! He was in a bag of extra tank supplies and no worse for the wear. He was a little dehydrated and cold but otherwise fine. The funny thing is; none of the traps or tank being left open with a fuzzy inside managed to entice him- he was found by my boyfriend at the crack of dawn!

So the lesson learned from all of this: If a snake goes missing- get an OCD boyfriend. He'll find it instantly. I'll post some pics of Enoch later today when I feed him.
