Missing scale on top of head

I took Fayth out of her tank today and found that not only is she very much in blue, she also somehow tore off a scale.

I fed her on Friday and she wasn't missing it then. That's the last time I saw her before this evening.

This is my first time dealing with this so any help is much appreciated. 😞 Should I just wait for her to shed or what?

My snake tore off the exact same scale! Watch for signs on infection. If it isn't scabbed over yet, put a VERY small dab of Neosporin on it. Watch her closely - if bedding/substrate is getting stuck to the Neosporin then change her to paper towel for the time being. It WILL heal with each shed, albeit slowly. When she sheds, check on her again as the wound may open back up again and require more Neosporin. DO NOT pull the forming scab, small shed pieces stuck to it, etc off. It will cause more harm than good. If you look through the health/feeding problems category, my post is still there and I recieved many helpful replies.

If I'm remembering correctly, you should use neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment) *without* pain reliever. I read that in a thread here a while back, if memory serves, and it seemed to be an important distinction.

I'm so sorry this happened...good luck with first aid and healing! I hope it resolves quickly for you.

Yep. Small dab of regular neosporin (the one without the pain reliever... there shouldn't be an analgesic listed in the drug information) and let it heal naturally. Torn scales become moderately common this time of year for snakes kept in screen top aquarium style enclosures due to active behavior and excessive escape rubbing.
