white mold is growing on my corn eggs. ive read that this is because of too high humidity,is this true?or could there be another cause?it didnt start appearing until 1 egg went bad and started to rot.now there is another egg i think is going bad, what should i do??? its starting to cover all my eggs,i uncovered them to let some humidity out,but i dont want to dehydrate them if thats not the problem.please help!!!

You want near 100% humidity...keep them covered except to check them.

I don't think anyone could give you a definite answer on why it is growing.

Dab the eggs with foot fungus powder or either Listerine on a Q-tip.

If feasible, take the eggs out and fill the box with NEW substrate.

It sounds like your incuabtion medium is too moist, what are kind are you using? I'd let things dry out a little. Let us know what exactly you are using and what you are doing (spraying it down, how often, etc) and we could probably help you better.

well,

i keep the eggs in spagnum moss(which almost comepletely covers the eggs),and lay a piece of moist paper towel over the top. the single eggs that are taken care of exactly the same, seem fine.i dont want to lose my entire clutch to this, please help!

I would replace all your moss and make sure it is just damp and not too wet. What I do is soak the moss until it is saturated and then squeeze out as much moisture as I can. Also don't spray it down with extra water too often, you should only have to spray the medium about twice during incubation if your moss is covered. A little foot powder probably wouldn't hurt but don't over do it I normally only use it with the blue/green fungus. Sometimes eggs just die, we haven't found out all the causes yet. However some possibilities are... too much moisture, not enough oxygen reaching the egg (moss too compact), tempreture spikes, genetics, and just plain old "it wasn't meant to be". Good Luck with the rest of your clutch.

ummm....

moving them would be difficult, seeing as its a giant clump of 22 eggs. i would hate to cause even more harm to these eggs, maybe causeing perfectly good eggs to die. i have let the container dry out alittle, and it seemed to help,im thinking about replacing the subsrate i can take out, without moving the eggs.could it possibly be the heat? i keep it at about 80-81.5,because i read that if your temp is too high, the babies will have kinks.i am a little new at this egg buisness, this is my first clutch.i pray that atleast a few hatch out of the 27 eggs laid:) ill post some pics later, and keep you all posted on the progress of the eggs.
