My 5th old Cali King is Brumating?? HELP!

Here's my story, I've always wanted a banded Cali King..on Oct 11 I found him & fell in love. He was so active, out all the time, when it came to eating time he was picky since it was a f/t/p. But finally he took it. A whole mth went by & he ate nothing I offered. So I broke down & bought a live pinky & put it in his feeding bowl he just look at & ignored it, so finally I wiggled it in front of him & he took it. *worse thing I have 'ever' done* So now another mth goes by nothing won't even eat in his viv. He is about 11g. Hasn't lost weight. And the last mth I have just left him alone & turned off the heater. He is drinking. I caught him out the other night sneaking a drink & soon as he saw me he hid. So now he has been w/ out food for a little over 2 mths. He has had a few poos. And when I do see him he looks normal. He hasn't had a shed since I got him.
So what do I do? Just let him be? Is he brumating? Is he too young? The corns are eating wkly & having no signs of wanting to go in for the winter. I do however keep the house down to a low 60 at night & daytime might get up to 68/70. Any experienced brumaters out there know if this is what he is doing & if so how do I know when its over w,? And time to offer food again.

Just need some reassurance right now. As I believe that this is what he is doing I just don't know how to handle the process of it all.

TIA! Any advice will help make me feel better. :)

Just keep monitoring him, he should be fine so long as he is not losing weight. My huge male cali does the same thing every year, only he goes about 5 mos without eating.

Give him until the month and then start warming him up again and try feeding him again. You could even wait until the middle of end of Feb as well, if he's not losing any weight.

The thing I have noticed with both my cali's is that they don't like to not brumate, if that makes any sense. Doesn't matter if it's CB or WC either, as I have one of each.

Good luck with the little fella...

JENN, Hey girl! Thanks so much for responding. I was just really worried at first since he is still a baby. But now I am SO sure he is brumating. He wants to be left alone. I put him in a smaller viv over 2mths ago & now just turned the heater off & leave him alone so he doesn't burn off anymore muscle..lol
He is such a swt Toot & such a happy lil guy. It gets warmer around Feb. so I will wait til it starts heating up. You know looking back I think he wanted to brumate, but I was fighting it. So now I am aware of the signs & am trying to keep him comfy during this time. The 'not wanting to brumate' does make a ton sense. I will keep you updated, thanks again!! :)

Vikki I know I've read about non-feeding late hatchlings being brumated and then being fine in the spring. Sometimes they want to follow their own internal clock, no matter what we do!
