My First Rack!

Bobo's Mama

proud corn mommy!
Well, I finally got it finished, and all the corns transferred. They all seem to be settling in. They are all enjoying exlporing.

So I decided to get creative and decorate the tubs. It might seem immature to some, but I figured if it took me 3 years to finally break down and get rack, then darnit, I'm going to have fun with it! I found some decals and got a theme for each corn. Skizzard the normal, got a jungle theme with a monkey, a tropical bird, and some cool jungle leaves. Rosy, the Opal, got some pretty glittery butterflies. Doug the Anery-Lav got trees and leaves. Glacier the Snow, got all sorts of pretty flowers. And Bobo my Amel, got fireworks! I also painted their names on the front with colored paint. I love it already! Anyway, here are a few shots of the new rack.

It's an Animal Plastics Economy rack. It came with heat cable, but the tubs were extra, but I got a pretty good deal on sale for $5.88 each at Target.

Thanks guys! I'm just glad its finally put together. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so it seemed to take forever... It's so nice though, to not have to mess with clips and screens to get them out now.

Congrats on the rack! I'm sure you'll love it. There are many reasons why I love my AP rack, one of them being I have not had a single escaped inhabitant.

I really wish AP made racks for the extremely long and somewhat flat tubs though! That would be awesome but probably HUGE!

or did you get the rack and then had to find a tub to fit?

(sorry, should av posted that on the last post).

Your rack looks awesome... I'm thinking why did I not get one of those, or maybe two... I just bought 4 twenty gallon longs, but If I buy anymore snakes that is the style of rack I want to get... Besides by the time you buy heat, tanks and shelving, it's so much cheaper to get the A.P. racks...

Animal Plastic creates racks that fir Iris, Sterilite, and Rubbermaid racks.

I wish I was handy enough to build my own racks, but for anyone who feels like ... Dean, Nanci, Bobo's momma, and I (the list goes on longer than that!) Animal Plastics are extremely high quality racks that do the job for ya.

I love their normal racks, but I do agree that the economy racks are GREAT for the price. I have a normal rack and an economy rack from AP and they both are the same amount of goodness.

Woowhoo, looks like AP is coming out with a new "double wide" Sterilite rack which accommodates 41qt long boxes. That's what I want! Guess I should start saving up now..($950 could be the Ghost Bloods I've been dreaming of...) :awcrap:

I like the rack not because it is cheap, but because it lets so much light in. It's always easy to see the snakes.

Hrm, I kinda like the look of my "normal" rack better. It just looks more put together in the room.

I guess I like the idea of my snakes being able have the choice of hiding in the back or coming up to the front as well. My rack is close enough (but not directly in the path of) our sliding glass door, so I can see into the tubs fairly well.

I can see how you'd want to be able to see where your little spyers are at all times though... I will admit that I do not play "peekaboo" quite as much anymore with my snakes as I did when they were in glass tanks.
