Thanks. these are my favorite turtles.

i'm hoping one day they'll lay eggs and produce many more colorful turtles. but my female is still kind of young...only a little over a year old. Tony is 2 years old.

the male will get anywhere from 6-8" the female will get to be anywhere from 8-9". right now, Tony is around 7 inches. Shelly is slightly smaller at 6.5"

Glad to see someone posting pics of turts, I've got 6 and love them to death. They are so funny to watch, sad they're getting big and going out to a pond in the spring.
Very nice woods!

yeah i'm surprised that there arent as many turt owners around here.

it's really cool to watch them eat when i give them nightcrawlers.
i got wood turtles because their coloring is just stunning. people ask me if i paint their shells! and they dont get as big as most other turtles/tortoises. the hard part was finding a female mate for Tony. but i finally came across a breeder at a reptile show. he was more than happy to sell Shelly to me when I told him I already had a male and he needed a companion. unlike snakes, these turtles do like being around others of their own species. when i brought Shelly home, he became more active and healthier. and i dont even know if they will breed or not. we'll see. although i wont be upset if they dont. i'm just happy to have them.

Toy and Shelly are gorgeous, I resisted buying a wood turtle when I got my last 2 snakes, have to wait until I can make a bit more space for their setup, here are some wild turtles I found i greece last year in a swamp fed by the sewer runoff from some apartments, had fun feeding them ham sandwiches and ritz crackers
