My pet mice! Lots of pictures.

Female Wiccan Heretic!!
Usually when I decide to take mousie pictures, I take 50 or 60 pictures and wind up with maybe five that I like. Today I took 88 pictures and wound up with 42 that were at least in focus! What a delight! I've tried to weed them down to a manageable number for posting, but forgive me if I wind up putting up a lot of them...

I've got two mice from shelters, Nosie and Whiskers. One pet store mouse, Paws...Paws MUTILATED Whiskers back in March, and Whiskers is only now really recovering. I've also got two show type mice (Miss Ears and Miss Tail) from a local mousery. The difference is amazing! The show type mice are MUCH larger than the pet type, with HUGE ears, INCREDIBLY long tails, and an unbelievably docile temperament. I'll definitely be sticking to show type from now on!

Today we had a group "playground" session. Paws and Whiskers have to be kept separate, as Whiskers holds a grudge and will launch herself at Paws and try to kill her at the first opportunity! Aside from that though, everyone can play together just fine.

Paws greeting Miss Tail.

Miss Ears is so lovely...

Miss Tail is more heavily marked, but I love the background color on them, and I could never pick a favorite.

I think this may be my favorite picture of the day! Perfect little "Baroo?" head tilt.

Snuggle pile!

At one point, Miss Ears grabbed this mouse shaped cat toy that was sitting outside of the playpen and tried to yank it in through the bars. I put it in the playpen and she stashed it in her hide, then snuggled with it for quite awhile.

She even groomed it a bit!

Nosie is one of my shelter mice, and she is FAT! Probably an undermarked brindle, since obesity tends to run in brindle mice. She's losing weight steadily, but has a ways to go yet.

So much of Whiskers' ear tissue is gone as a result of her injuries, she looks like a little elf now.

Very nice! I've owned rats before. Are mice similar as far as personality? I loved having rats. Such smart little creatures.

They are kinda' cute... That picture of the light tan one reminds me of a mouse that I had as a little kid. I aptly named him peanut butter, lol.

Mice aren't nearly as personable as rats, but they are busy! I get more enjoyment from watching the mice than I do from handling them, as they never seem to stop defecating on me! They're forever rearranging their homes, grooming themselves or each other, climbing, and exploring. Better than TV IMO! :)

LoL, Nosie is shaped like a dumpling and the color of peanut butter...poor mousie is just overall edible!

I have experimented a few times with pet store mice and they were a nightmare. Even the females would slaughter each other at the drop of a hat...

Are the fancy show mice better about living together? They are very cute! I love the big ears!

Yes, the show mice have been mellowed to the point where they don't even care about having a wheel or not. I tried introducing them to my shelter mice on a more permanent basis, but they get picked on because they let themselves get picked on. That notch in Miss Ears' gorgeous ears is from Whiskers.

I used to breed mice, and got lucky when one of our spotted mice, Patches, hooked up with a really interestingly colored dark tan mouse called Morgin.
The babies were so varied in color that it was like looking at a mouse color rainbow!
I had dark tan spotted ones, full on black spotted ones, some without spots, some with spots, varying colors and patterns... I never had any cuter mice than that pairing!

Right now im trying to breed mice for snake food, but.. im still kinda interested in what Cow will produce with the light tan mouse thats in there with her (she is spotted like a cow, so.. cow is her name! lol).
