My poor little girl!

Ok,,, breif story, than question. I have two beautiful corn, i call them my girls. Ruby who is rather easy going and pleasant to hold. Rosie who is very skitish and when holding always seems to be trying to leave in a hurry. The viv i have them in , the lid does not fit exactly right and leaaves a gap large enought for either of them to escape quite easily. I have been using duct tape to cover the gap. Now what has happened is that Rosie decided to explore the gap and got completly stuck to the tape. I called the local pet store who were very wonderfull and told me to bring my little girl in and they would help get her off the tape... This was accomplished in very little time. So the little girl was stuck on the tape around 12 hours. They used an orange based cleaner called TKO, and told me to take her home and give her a little swim. I did this, and made up a make shift recovery home for her. Box placed half over a heating pad and 3 very large and heavy books on top so she cant escape. Now, 12 hours later, she seems to be doing fine, a little extra skittish but not bad. Given the trauma she is feeling, im wondering if i should hold off feeding her an extra couple of days or if i should try to feed her on schedule? I will be keeping her in her little home for about 4 or 5 days to alow her small would to heal up befor i put her back in with Ruby. Any other care ideas would be appreciated. And many thanks!

Oh, poor girly! I'm glad she is doing better!
I would try and feed her, but not worry if she refuses. When it comes to the lid, if you duct tape both sides, then there shouldn't be a sticky part, just a thought. I hope it all works out well. :)

actually, what i am doing for the time being, untill i can build a new viv for the girls is im putting a peice of seran wrap against the tape befor i put in place over the hole. they should not ever get stuck again. god that was scarry,,, i thought she was a gonner,,

I'm so sorry you went through that (and her of course). These things happen to all of us. I had one of my huge african clawed frogs get out and I found him the next morning in another room all dried out and covered in carpet fuzz. Now I have a few cats, but I think they were too leery of him to mess with him. He did have bent up claws and such. I didn't think he would make it, but he's fine now. His claws are even straight. Animals are pretty resiliant.

It sounds like she is trying to tell you something--maybe she doesn't like be housed with Ruby. You may want to do a search on cohabitation. I personally recommend against cohabitation of corn snakes.

I'll second that. I don't cohabitate at all*...even if it means going out and buying another Sterilite or Rubbermaid. You'll find many opinions on the subject as well.

It sounds like you got everything under control, as for feeding I would skip, it wont hurt her and just give her some time to cool down. But I would reccomend keeping them in seperate enviroments.

I didn't catch the cohab part.
I agree with them totally on not cohabing. Its very stressful for the snakes and there are lots of other problems that can arise.

I wouldn't put her back in with Ruby at all. Snakes are solitary creatures and neither need nor want company. And, as you've figured out by now, tape is very bad company for snakes as well!

Separate setups. Secure lids. Those are my ideas. Oh, and keep the injured one on paper towel until her wounds completely heal. It's cleaner and less likely to cause infection. You can also swab it with diluted betadyne.
