This is Shiva, he lives on my bedside table and is the man I wake up to every morning.

only a nymph at the moment.... going to get his wings soon though!

cool mantis, i used to keep thyem when i was younger. yours is alot prettier them mine were but i think he is a she lol

btw what kind is it?

its a giant asian and i did think it was female, but ive been told its male by some people on mantid forums.

they are so easy to look after! All you need is a tank with some twigs in thats tall enough for them to molt in. You mist them with water every other day and give them flys, crickets and spiders.... basically they eat anything smaller than them!

Sadly my mantis had a bad molt last night and one of his legs has gone wrong Im hoping he will be ok.

Oh, sorry about the bad moult. Can't they regenerate whole legs, though, if they have to?

I used to have a WC pet mantis that lived in my bathroom when I lived in that hell hole called San Bernardino. I had plants and stuff in there, and she just came in one day. She was killed by a black widow spider...

They are really cool. I see them here once in a while.

Hmmm. I never even thought of having a Mantis as a pet. I've always loved them, and the once in a while I see one out here is always fun!

That's Cool

Just Curious what their temperament is like, I remember messing with them when I was a kid but I can't seem to remember their moods & such, I can't seem to remember them as being biters...

Mine is really really gentle, hes never attacked me or anyone, very curious though. Likes to know what your up to, and he sits on my laptop with me for hours!

Hmm... i'm interested now. I'll have to do some research. Would you know of any websites, by any chance? With care sheets or anything like that?

just join this forum im on here as Chrome as well and it has everything you need to know! If not just google caresheets for mantids, they are really easy to look after as long as you dont get a really tropical one!

When I had mine (WC), it moved really fast. But it was still great and it would eat pinky mice too. I rescued it from an early snowstorm in October at school.
