Naga - '14 Candy cane

Baby Naga just shed this morning. His colors were so beautiful I had to take some pics of him (he looks way more passion red and white than in this pic). He got the idea on slithering up inside my sleeve.

He is about 50cm (about 19.5") already and 6-6,5 months old. I'll be upgrading his viv this week, I'm waiting for the delivery (Easter is crazy stuff in Spain).

And just for curiosity and because I thought he was so cute, another picture of when I caught him at 1.30AM las week before he got blue, just having a bath and SLEEPING in the water dish.

Very nice little snake :)

Not to be rude but I don't think that is a candy cane. Looks like a lovely little amel. Candy canes are selectively bred amels that have no or very little orange.

Naga is beautiful, but I have to agree with HVani. Candycanes should look like a candy cane. Stark white ground color with orange or red saddles. Corns color up as they age, and the amount of orange on your snake at that size says to me that he'll be a slightly pale but otherwise typical amel at adulthood.

He is candy cane, but not that perfect in the head, I know. He looks whiter in real life, but in the pic while bathing he does look only amel; he isn't really that orange.
Some of the clutch which had already been sold before I got hold of one were even whiter, but only 3 were left. Candy canes are very popular here and you have to prebuy to get the best of them. I also saw the parents and they were CC, one of them pretty similar to the famous picture in the book by Bill and Kathy Love, the frosted one. Mine has some little frosting, as well, but barely noticeable.

May be turning this thread into a progression. So let's se how he ends up :)

Candy canes are line bred Amels. Even if both of the parents look like perfect Candy Cane examples not all of their offspring will be Candy Cane. Sure, there's a higher probability, but line bred "morphs" can be trickier.

Carol Huddleston of LBR has some of the best examples of Candy Canes and Miamis out there IMO. Here are some links to threads which contain images of fine Candy Canes.

You have a nice Amel. It is not Candy cane. It will color up more and more as it grows. Pretty baby though!

Yes, I understand all your points. Line breedings give babies like those perfect examples or blurred ones to a kind of middle ground that is not CC but more of a "whiter" sort of amel.
I'll not be picky with him anyway, it's difficult not to love these little cuties :p
