Nagini inactive for a week?

Hi guys,
This is probably a question that pops up quite frequently (I'm sorry if so) but it's unusual for Nagini. When I first got him he was out every night climbing, 'swimming' and venturing but for the past week he hasn't even come out a night. Never.

He's been lay inside his hidey hole in the warm for a week now and the only time he will come out is if I physically pick him up to feed him or for the odd 10 minute play. He doesn't seem to want to come out on the past few days either he seems very hesitant which again, unusual as he used to just climb up on my hand happily.

His eyes haven't clouded over so I pushed shedding being an option aside.

Could I be wrong?

This is weird, I am also going through the very same thing, but it all started this morning. I hope Nagini will be ok.

What are you measuring temps with? A 2-4 days of inactivity after a meal is perfectly normal, much longer than that would indicate cool temps or a problem.

I would think shed. Even if you don't notice the cloudy eyes, because sometimes that can be a very short time that, if not taken out every day, can be missed (I have done this before accidentally).

How long have you had Nagini?

As Chip said, check temperatures. If he's eating and pooping and the temperatures are good, I don't know what to suggest :/
I wouldn't automatically think something was wrong though. Granted I don't have nearly as much experience as Chip (!) but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion right away.

Just from having my snakes a few months, I've noticed something... they're weird.
They do weird things. They aren't always predictable.
BUT I do think it is important to keep an eye on any changes, as you have been.

Good luck!

Mine did that, too. She's totally fine. I think it's just being settled in, 'cause mine explored the first two days I got her and now she's constantly under her water dish. Other than that, I have no idea. Hope Nagini (and Crescent!) is okay.

Just checked on him this evening and his eyes are a lot lighter than usual, not as bright. I think there's a possibility he's due to shed :)

If nothing in a week... I'll sort the tank out and make sure everything is ok!

I'm not assuming a problem, lol, I thought blue was ruled out. A corn with an empty belly is usually alert. When did she shed last? If it's been about a month, I feel sure that's it. :)

Don't even know if he's shed at all :( the shop didn't keep records (I should of asked really) I just took him out for a little handling and noticed his eyes have gone like a blue/grey cloudy colour so I'm a bit reassured now - if not excited! :D

I was going to say a shed was probably coming, but cloudy eyes are a sure sign! Also when you first put them in a new enclosure they find it necessary to check it out for possible escape routes, so they move around alot.

My ghost is in shed, too. Her eyes are really cloudy, and the checkers on her belly are light gray. The pink on her cheeks are now as super light and the skin looks weird. Trust me, you'll notice. :D the suspense is killer!

Hey guys, thought I'd update you. Came home this evening and your suspicions were right, he shed :)

It didn't all come off in one but checked his eyes and that came off cleanly so I'll let him do rest of his business. If he's still struggling mid-week, I'll give him a nice warm bath and buy him some moss (should of already done this but I didn't think he would shed so soon after being blue) He seems fine and active now anyway and he's still eating perfectly.

I appreciate your help guys, so does Nagini!

If it didn't all come off, he's not gonna bother trying to get the rest of it off over the next few days. You should probably consider giving him short soak and letting him run around in a moist cloth/towel or something. Sooner would be better than later unless you just fed him.

Aye, just fed him :( I'll give him a nice soak on Tuesday, will he be fine till then? I'm hoping he will be active through that time so at least some of it is rubbed off.

If he ate, he's going to go digest, so he's not going to be active, but on Wednesday, no earlier, if he still has shed left, I'd soak him as outlined in the stuck shed sticky.

He's just been for a little wander in the Viv but went back to sleep, lol. I'll do just that, thank you Nanci! :)
