Need help in picking a silver/grey color snake for DD

My Son recently got a Lee Abbott Okeetee corn snake and now guess who wants a corn snake? My Daughter (and Me :)) She is leaning towards the lighter silver/grey color ones. So my question is this: Knowing that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, which would you consider the prettier of the silver/grey ones. She doesn't seem to like the ones with with red eyes so much and would prefer that it doesn't have much yellow. After looking around I've come across these but wanted to get a better opinion on them as I've not seen any of the adults in person:

Pewter
Anery Pewter
Anery Lavender
Silver Queen
Vanishing Charcoal Stripe
Vanishing Anery Stripe
Platinum
grnite

I'm open to any other suggestions as well.

Thanks so Much
Becky

I would say your best bet to get a gray snake that isn't going to develop much if any yellow would be a pewter or a charcoal. The anery based morphs seem to develop yellow more frequently than they do.
Keep in mind that every snake is different though - some anerys may never develop any yellow (I personally have one that has not) and some charcoals may develop some. There really isn't any way to tell for sure when they are babies.

Lavender bloodred, especially female??

I personally love the granites. I have two babies from SMR (South Mountain Reptiles). Don has really top quality animals. My babies are less than 60 grams, so I can't give you adult pictures. What I can tell you is that one of them has some pink creeping in and the other one doesn't. I'll give you links to their iHerp pictures and here in a bit I'll take new pictures if you'd like. These pictures aren't great, but I think it's Gretchen who's getting pink in.

Here's Garrett:

Wow that is a beautiful Lavender bloodred Nanci. Did you purchase it somewhere or breed it yourself? Is there a difference other than the obvious in male and females? Is one lighter or darker normally? Also what does the % for with the different types of snakes. What are some reputable places to buy online? Sorry for so many questions, we are new to all of this but have quickly fallen in love with our little Abbott Okeetee.

Garrett and Gretchen are pretty little snakes too. I'll have to keep that store in mind when we do order. It looks like they don't have any of the granites available right now.

What about a charcoal corn snake?

Please keep the pictures and advice coming I really appreciate it. :)

Ain't nothin' wrong with a Platinum! :sidestep:

She is from Serpenco- there aren't any more...Male lavender bloodreds, and lavenders, tend to be pinker or peachier than females. I think if you look at hypo- anything- lavblood, lavender, etc. the snakes are going to be pinker, also.

If you order from SMR, shoot Don an email asking if he has Granites. He doesn't have every snake listed. I got a Strawberry Amel (Very orangey pink snake) that wasn't even listed from him. Bear in mind though, I think I paid $100 for each granite. I know that's what I paid for the Strawberry Amel anyway.

Pewter or platinum, IMO, but it also depends upon how much you want to spend. I would stay away from solely anery based morphs as you won't have the silver color (guaranteed, at least), and lavender might give you ruby eyes. Stick with charcoal based morphs. You might get one with more yellow, but if you look at the parents (Brent has parent photos up for his hatchlings), you might get one that has a lesser chance of that. A vanishing charcoal stripe might do it, but those are going to be pricey as they are rare.

Wow! No love for the anery lavenders? For shame!

Anery lavs, imho, are some of the cleanest, shiniest silver on silver snakes ever.

I love anery lavenders! To me, they are like lavender, only better. I like the pureness and crispness of the colors.

Ah, but see, the Anery Lavenders aren't a purely silver snake. They are gorgeous, but not what the OP was asking for. ;)

Absolutely no question, two hands down, beyond a doubt the Platinum is the best grey snakes. I have one as well as granites, ghost bloods, anery, anery lav, charcoal, and pewters... The Platimum puts them all to shame.... Well except maybe the ghost blood, but I like him best because he is PEACH coloured! Not cause of the grey!

Good luck, tough choice deciding on just one or two colours of corns. I failed dismally!

i'll get some photos up of the pewter we are "babysitting" for a friend. for a whole year, lol. LAST time we babysat his snake it became ours, so. but i definitely think pewters are an absolute fine example of silvery snakes!
