Look no further. This is eco friendly and will save you huge amounts of money.
All you will need is and old fridge, heat mats and thermometers.
Step 1. Empty out your old fridge so there are only the racks if the racks have gaps you might want to put a layer of wood,or polystyrene over the rack so the surface is even.
Step 2. DO NOT PLUG YOUR FRIDGE IN! Drill some holes into the side of your fridge so you can get the heat mats in on top of the wood or polystyrene.
Step 3. Corn snakes don't actually need light nor do eggs but if you have another breed of snake you might want to drill a hole in the top of the fridge to put a light through, you would only need one light! Amazing right!
Step 4. Now the heat mats and light are in you can put your snakes or clutches in. So you can do this for clutches by putting them in boxes and placing the boxes over the heat mats and for snakes you can put them in boxes or let them wriggle around on their level because seeing was the door will be closed they won't be able to go anywhere.
Step 5. Stick the thermometers in the fridge where you can see them and sit back and feel accomplished. Now order take out. You deserve it.

I definitely wouldn't have snakes living in darkness all the time...especially diurnal snakes like cornsnakes. They do need light just to be healthy....doesn't need to be UV but they need some light. Eggs not a problem.

Originally in the post you said cornsnakes and eggs don't require any light but IF you have another breed of snake you might want to put a light in there....I would never make a snake of any species live it's entire life in darkness... they do require light for their wellbeing and that's including cornsnakes....and it shouldn't even be an IF, it should be "put a light in there unless all you're using it for is eggs"

My other question is how does one light illuminate the multiple levels if you have wood or polystyrene to keep them from going between the slats of the fridge shelves...?

Easy the one light would produce enough light to,pass through the polystyrene or wood and the snakes or eggs wouldn't be right up against the door also you can add more lights if needs be

I guess I'd have to see it....I don't know many lights that can penetrate wood through several levels....I assumed you made it so that they couldn't leave the level they are on....you mentioned the door being closed would keep them on a level so the wood would have to be tightly up against the door or the snake would end up on other levels if it was loose there.....That would make it so the light couldn't light up the next level below.....

What I did was I put a sheet of glass in front of the wood with many air holes and also drilled air holes into the door so they couldn't escape from their level
