I've only tried twice so far. The guy I got him from said that he was eating both live and F/T, so I'm hoping F/T is not going to be an issue. Live is a major pain but something I can do if I have to.
First attempt, I waited about an hour after dark, turned on a small lamp in the room to be able to see what I was doing and then offered him an F/T mouse off tongs. I'd run a blow dryer over it for a bit to be sure the mouse was good and hot. Even checked the temp of it with my temp gun. But he stuck his head in his coils and clamped up like a clam and hissed at me, so I left it in with him overnight but he didn't touch it.
Next attempt was much like the first except that I didn't even try and offer it to him, he started to hide his head again when I opened the cage but didn't clamp up like last time. I just left it on the floor of his cage as quick as I could and turned the lamp off quickly. But again he didn't touch it.
The first attempt was about a week and a half-two weeks before he shed, the second a day or two after he shed.
