Hmm, I don't know about a basking light for corns. I'm no expert, but I've been reading a lot about lighting and heating lately and most books/forums/websites say that corns do not need any sort of light as they are nocturnal. The infrared lights will put out heat, all lights put out heat. I don't think the light is really going to do your snake any harm as long as it can't come in direct contact with the bulb and it isn't super close to the top of the tank. Again, I'm no expert, I'm just sharing what I've read and learned.
Oh yeah totally I'm not an expert either just trying to help out I personally don't use any lights only an under tank heat mat and it seems to work fine. I've read so many sites and they all differ.... 'They NEED red light'... 'They don't need any light'... 'They need vitamin lights....' Just a million things. Guess every snake is different ( oh and my real RESEARCH is just limited to corns and b pythons.)
