Last night my Vet. performed a perfect cesarean section on my bitch, Duck. There were 7 robust pups. This was Duck's first litter. There was one complication.....one of the puppies detached from the placenta early and there was an abnormal amount of bleeding. She received a 500 cc blood transfusion and she pinked right up. Everyone is doing well......just not sleeping much.

Look at those snouts LOL, What an adoreable bunch of pups!

Lets hope mumma has a speedy recovery! Will she ever be bred again?
 
Bulldog pups are always SO cute! Congrats on the little ones!

FYI, the mom having to have a c-section is nothing unusual. Probably 98% of the bulldog pups we deliver are by c-section. They just aren't built to come out the natural way.

That's part of the reason why English Bulldogs are so expensive. The breeder racks up quite a vet bill for those adorable little pups!

Aw, cuties!

I was going to say what Terri said- all those smashed-face dogs with big heads have trouble delivering naturally. I had a pug once, who after a prolonged labor went to the vet in the middle of the night with me and my best dog show friend. I asked if I could watch the surgery and got rebuffed, but five minutes later the vet tech started coming out with puppies for us to rub and get going- there were too many for her to handle alone...

I love English Bulldogs.

In theory, my female is built well for a natural delivery. She has a long torso. That said, I prefer the controlled environment the c-section provides, especially for a first time mom. If there are complications.....you just know she's going to go into labor at 2am Sunday night......and the nearest 24hr animal hospital is an hour away. A lot can happen in that hour. My Vet. is only 3 minutes from my house and he has taken care of hundreds of bulldogs.

Thanks for the compliments.....Mom is pretty much recovered. She's eating like a horse and tending to her younglings. As for breeding her again.....it will be at least three heat cycles before I breed her. My Vet. is okay with it. Mom is my first priority. If my Vet. wasn't extremely confident in her as breeder I would have had her spayed while she was on the table last night without hesitation.

I LOVE BULLDOGS! Omg, thier sooooooo cute! Wish I could have one!

I just love the way they waddle and just look like the biggest bad a%% of the neighborhood when in actuallity they are one of the sweetest dogs around!

Those puppies look amazing. Thought I would add in a picture of my dad's bulldog. I think they look so funny, huge head and body. This 4 or 5 month old puppy is bigger than my mini daschund who is around 5 or 6 years old.

I am totally green! I can't wait until we have the room (too many dogs right now for our house as is) for an english bulldog. The are one of my favorite breeds, and your pups are stunning!

Congrats on the new arrivals!

That's a good looking bulldog......he reminds me of one of my males.....my favorite actually....

OMG, they are sooo cute. I have always had a soft spot for bulldogs. Most people have no idea what sweet lap dogs they are.
 
Those are amazing!!! Bulldogs are quite possibly one of my favorite dogs. Even my boyfriend, who is always strongly against bringing pets home, says "I just might have to own one of those someday" everytime we see a bulldog. Of course, currently my house is a bit small, and my cat is a bit evil and anti-EVERYTHING, so I don't see a dog in my immediate future....but someday...DEFINATLY. LOL....allready have the dog named and everything! Hahaha.

I would absolutely LOVE if you would post some progression pics of these pups as they grow (for as long as you have them, of course). Any pics of the parents? :)
