well boys and girls, we will be adding a new addition to the family pretty soon. it was not really a planned type deal, just one of those things that "happen", if you know what i mean. to be honest, we have enough already with all pets (10 snakes, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rats, 1 fish) to go along with 3 kids (2 at home) but we are guessing that "one more" will be o.k.

it was really a late start on the fertilization and we didn't even know that she was currently gravid. the male was a little younger than the female but also quite a bit bigger, so who knows how big this little hatchling is going to be. to be serious about it, we both thought that the female was a "little up in the years" to be going through with it, but as mentioned before......who knew. we started incubating it around 2 - 2 1/2 weeks ago i think. we had it checked on friday (by a novice) to make sure everything was o.k. today we decided to take the egg to a professional and have it checked out and for a real confirmation. we were told yes, that it is a fertile egg and everything seemed to be fine with it. all we can pray for is a nice and healthy little hatchling.

my wife's birthday is coming up on thursday 9/28 (ssssshhhhhh........she will be 41) and i was not sure what to get her. i had been looking at some other snakes on the forum and realized that she might not want a snake for her birthday. i would on the other hand, but that's a different story to be taken care of later. anyway, with the current happenings going on right now, i think i might just try and find something else, local, so i can get it within the next 2 days.

sorry i don't have any pics, but will for sure have more information for yall (name, sex, d.o.b., weight, length, etc.)when it starts pipping.......................in about 8 1/2 - 9 months. :eek1:

Had to re-read to make sure.................. Galen, that's brilliant! Maybe the MBK had some magic fertility powers :grin01:

i am hoping that it is a nice solid white,.... het. white,...pos. het. white, and coming from the same type parents with double het. genes...........maybe it will also produce some nice white hatchlings.

thanks everyone for the congrats and responses..................i am still not knowing what to feel, but obviously elated would be the best description. thanks again.

Congrats! My mother in law had her last child when she was 42 years old, it kept her young and in the now

Congrats!

Congratulations! Good luck. You can never have too many children, or pets running around. They only fill your life with more happiness. Congrats again!

Congratulations Galen!!

My wife and I didn't start having kids until we were 37; have 2. She says she had her children when she was in her 30's, but our daughter was born the day before she turned 40. I usually let her get away with that one; keeps me off the couch.:grin01:

You and the misses will be in my prayers. Keep us posted!

Hey!!! Congrats to you both... it's very sweet :) and ambitious... LOL !!!

Here's to a happy healthy incubation...

Congratulations!

Took me a few minutes to figure it out, but hey, certified blonde here! lol

We're looking forward to seeing progression shots of the wee one as he/she grows!

I am a bit disappointed, have you not read that cohabitating of a male and female no matter the age ends up with the situation you are in. :crazy02:

Well since the deed is done you might as well leave them together so the male will have to suffer during incubation as well. :eek1:

But I would suggest seperation or some other type of procedure to keep this from happening again, but I hear with this species you do not have to worry about retention. :sidestep:

Let them both get as much sleep as posssible now because it is harder on those old breeders once the hatchling is out of the egg.

Good Luck and God Bless.
