Wow, may I just say first of all, the smilies on this board are AWESOME! :flames: :D

I am a 20 year old girl from the country who currently lives in Baltimore City. I have had three snakes, but worked with MANY at an animal rescue/rehab I volunteered at.

I currently only have one snake, a Okeetee/Miami cross corn. She is an '11 hatchling, I think August. Picked her up at Repticon this past October. She is so well balanced that I don't believe she is actually a snake. xD She took a meal while still AT the convention. AND it was her first live feeding. Long story, but basically I was given a pink to stick in the freezer when I got home, but didn't have anywhere to put it so I stuck it in the deli cup with her and she gulped it down. Yes I know this was not a good idea, but what is done is done, and she is fine. I have been loosely following the Munson method. I feed her a pink every five days just about, but the pinks I have in the freezer at the moment are only 1g. Ah well.

Anyway, I breed mice. (have two cats and a dog on prey model raw/whole prey diets for health reasons) So I will be weighing pinks daily and freezing when they hit that magical 3g size. :D

Jade weighs 9g. She is just so calm and awesome! Of all the snakes I have had the pleasure of working with corns are tied for first place with red-tails. Eventually(once this darn python ban goes far away and stays there) I want to have a Burm. Also on my list of "one day"s is a BRB. GOSH they are stunning! Also loveloveLOVE Piebald Balls.

Once Repticon comes back around I am probably going to pick up another corn. Hopefully someone there will have reverse Okeetee's. One of my favorite corn morphs. :D Would love to try my hand at breeding corns one day.

Anybody know of any other shows/cons in the Baltimore area?

Hello and welcome! Sounds like you have yourself a lovely laid-back lass there!

Welcome! I know there is one in Maryland that is monthly or every other month but cant think of the name :shrugs: You should be able to find it on google. And congrats on the new corn!

I do, SOMEWHERE... LOL I'll post some probably tomorrow. Right now I need to feed the cats, the kitten is getting neutered in the morn so dinner needs to be before midnight...

Jade (the corn) gas grown soo much since these pictures were taken, these were all that I had already on the internet.

Thanks, She is my girl. :) Her breeder was.... urmm Eccentric?

Basically the story I got from him was that her sire was an "Apalachicola" morph(lol...?) and her dam was an Okeetee. Since Apalachicola is not actually a morph(it is a locality?) and her side patterning is similar to a "Miami" morph I assume his calling her an "Apalachicola/Okeetee" cross was his way of getting more money. LOL, though, since I only paid 15$ for her....

/shrug. I am usually more on the side of the reptile rescue than the breeder, so I am not 100% up to date on morphs. If I am wrong, please let me know!

My boyfriend bought the dragon and the snake for me. We went there to buy the dragon, "Arabella". When we got there he told me he had decided he was okay with me getting a snake(he has a fear of them, so even a corn is a HUGE step for him). I didn't get a chance to research her breeder like I would have liked... When he told me he was okay with it I flipped. I was origionally looking for a Reverse Okeetee, but nobody had any so then I set my sights on a regular Okeetee(my first corn was an Okeetee and I LOVED his color. He passed away shortly after I got together with my boyfriend. He was a rescue and his name was Ryan... Another time I will tell his story. I jumped through MAJOR hoops to save that lil bugger.)

ANYway, Thoughts on her color? Am I being stupid or is she actually an Apalachicola/Okeetee cross? Apparently it was not his intent to cross the two. He had put them together for brumation but hadn't separated them in time... Thoughts?
